Eusebio, Vice President for SM Supermalls Mall Operations, and Mr. Ronald Allan Brosas, Senior Assistant Vice President for Mall Operations.

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) officially sealed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the construction of the SM City Masinag–LRT-2 Antipolo Station Interconnection Access Bridge in a signing ceremony recently held at the concourse of the LRT-2 Antipolo Station.

SM and LRTA Executives sign the memorandum of agreement, marking an exciting addition to both establishments to serve communities in Antipolo City and nearby areas.

The interconnecting bridge is designed to provide a safe, direct, and weather-protected pedestrian link between LRT-2 Antipolo Station and the mall—addressing a long-standing public need since the station opened and enhancing everyday convenience for commuters and shoppers in Antipolo and the wider East Metro area.

“The interconnection access bridge enhances safety, accessibility, and efficiency for our passengers,” said Atty. Hernando Cabrera, Administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority. He underscored the value of the partnership between LRTA and SM Prime Holdings, Inc., noting that the project exemplifies how public–private collaboration can deliver practical solutions that improve passenger experience and urban mobility.

A handshake further strengthening the partnership between SM and the LRTA.

“This bridge is designed to serve the Filipino commuter—those who rely on public transport or park-and-ride options—providing safe and convenient access to daily necessities and services,” said Engr. Junias Eusebio, Vice President for Mall Operations of SM Supermalls. He added that the interconnection promotes inclusive mobility, walkability, benefiting commuters, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), families, and workers, while helping reduce pedestrian spillover, ease traffic along Marcos Highway, and lower carbon emissions in support of SM’s sustainability and urban mobility goals.

Also present during the MOA Signing Ceremony was Engr. Jomar Lua, OIC Director IV of the Rail Standards and Enforcement Office of DOTR; Ms. Evelyn P. Janeo, OIC Business Development and Public Relations of LRTA; Atty. Ronald Redentor De Veyra is the head executive assistant of the administrator of LRTA. Joining them are SM Supermalls Executive Vice President for Marketing, Mr. Joaquin San Agustin; Mr. Egbert Lim, Senior AVP for Mall Project Management; and Mr. Ronald Allan Brosas, Senior AVP for Operations of SM Supermalls, further reinforcing the strong collaboration between government and the private sector in advancing commuter-focused infrastructure.

SM Executives and LRTA Officials pose for commemorative photo at the soon-to-open interconnection access bridge at SM City Masinag.

The construction of the interconnecting bridge is set to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with completion targeted six months later. As part of the New Era of SM Supermalls, which envisions seamlessly connected and intuitively designed spaces for all, the access bridge is expected to improve pedestrian flow, enhance sustainable urban mobility, and encourage public transport use along the Marcos Highway corridor—elevating the mall experience for shoppers and commuters alike while delivering long-term benefits to the community.

This holiday season, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) brought the spirit of sharing and collaboration to life as Galaxy Campus Batch 3 student ambassadors joined the ‘A Galaxy of Giving: Turning Tables of Communication’ activity at the Philippine School for the Deaf (PSD) in Pasay City. The initiative combined creativity, teamwork, and purpose, as students came together to contribute meaningful gifts that support learning and inclusivity.

Impact beyond the screen

Galaxy Campus Batch 3 student ambassadors teamed-up with PSD learners for a hands-on furniture-making workshop to design and assemble modular recycled furniture. The teams worked together on creating their designs on their Galaxy tablets and painted the assembled furniture. The completed pieces were given as a thoughtful gift to the school, one that inspires, uplifts, and creates a lasting sense of accomplishment. Together, ambassadors and learners celebrated this joyful season by creating, learning, and shaping a brighter future.

Galaxy Campus Batch 3 student ambassadors reflected on the activity. “This is a really fun way to nurture our creativity, as well as giving back to the community,” said Yowni Cueto from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, while Mishka Gotico of Miriam College harped on teamwork: “Even with differing communities, you're still able to shine amidst your differences. I like that we're really able to come together despite such differences.” Nikos Catanus of Iloilo Science and Technology University – Iloilo City Campus added, “The most rewarding part is we slowly understood each other. We bonded even though we're not used to communicating in each other's language. If you really have one goal, even if you don't fully understand each other, you transcend that border.”

Mr. Jordan Madronio, Assistant Principal and Officer-in-Charge of PSD shared, “I was very happy because they said they're [Galaxy Campus student ambassadors] learning sign language at the same time. These activities are very meaningful because they boost our students’ confidence, and our society is becoming more open to acceptance. They’re not just deaf—they’re empowered deaf people. What hearing people can do, they can also do.”

Jun Guevara, SEPCO Head of Corporate Marketing added, “Our Galaxy Campus student ambassadors are already influential digital communicators within their own spaces. Through this project of Samsung, we allow them to create impact beyond what they can do on screen. We reconnect with a hands-on activity to support an underserved community differently which makes this more meaningful.”

About Galaxy Campus

Galaxy Campus is Samsung Philippines’ flagship student ambassador program for bold, driven college students ready to stand out and make an impact. Launched on August 16, 2025, the Batch 3 brings together top students from across the country for a year-long journey where participants gain access to exclusive Samsung events, hands-on workshops, mentorship opportunities, and early access to the latest Galaxy devices. The program equips students to lead initiatives, showcase creativity, and make a difference both on campus and in their communities.

Samsung Philippines President Mr. Roman Han emphasized the company’s commitment to youth education and empowerment: “Galaxy Campus has always been a very special program for Samsung. This program has always encouraged everyone to be their most creative and unique self. Globally, Samsung has always advocated for youth education and empowering students, and this activity is very aligned to that advocacy.”

The “Buo ang Saya ng Pasko” (The Joy of Christmas is Complete) campaign highlights the many ways Filipino families and communities celebrate the season today, creating a more joyful December for customers nationwide.

“This Christmas, Jollibee wants to remind every Filipino that the true joy of the season comes from being together. No matter where or how we celebrate, what really matters is celebrating with the people we love,” said Dorothy Ching, Jollibee Philippines’ vice president for marketing. “Totoong mas buo ang saya ng Pasko kapag magkakasama tayo at pinagsasaluhan ang mga paborito nating mga pagkain.”

A heartfelt film for the changing Filipino family

This year’s “Buo ang Saya ng Pasko” campaign features a touching Christmas film made in partnership with Forsman and Bodenfors Singapore. The film captures how Filipino families continue to evolve, showing real moments across different walks of life. It follows hospital workers sharing a Christmas meal during their shift, security guards bonding over simple food, couples treating their pets like family, single parents enjoying time with their children, and large families reuniting across generations.

Jollibee said the film celebrates the idea that while traditions change, the spirit of love and connection that defines a Filipino Christmas remains strong.

Joyful Christmas Stores illuminate the nation

Now on its third year, Jollibee’s Joyful Christmas Stores have returned brighter and bigger. This 2025 season marks the largest rollout to date, with 300 decorated branches nationwide. Each store features festive lights and community inspired touches to bring happiness to neighborhoods, including areas affected by recent calamities.

Customers may locate these decorated stores through the Jolly Christmas Tours digital map powered by Google.

A new nationwide celebration for Simbang Gabi

To bring the Christmas spirit to communities early, Jollibee launched the first ever Christmas JOY Day during the opening of Simbang Gabi. The brand joined dawn masses in select Manila churches such as San Agustin Church, Our Lady of Remedies Parish, Sta. Ana Church, and San Fernando de Dilao Parish (Paco Church). Churchgoers received free Jollibee treats as part of the nationwide countdown.

The celebration continued in select schools like Pinaglabanan Elementary School in San Juan, Kapt. Jose Cardones Integrated School in Taguig, and St. Mary’s Elementary School in Marikina. Students received Jollibee Kids Values Books and treats for free, bringing early Christmas cheer to young learners.

New offerings that complete holiday gatherings

It has now become a tradition for HONOR to launch its biggest hit X9 series every January

Manila, Philippines, December 26, 2025 – Leading global AI smart devices provider HONOR Philippines has dominated the mid-range smartphone market with its iconic and biggest hit HONOR X9 series. Started with HONOR X9a 5G in 2023, HONOR has been dropping hits after hit, literally. At this point, the new year's campaign of the viral phone series has already become a tradition.

“When we launched HONOR X9a 5G, we literally had zero expectations. What we had was hope and confidence in our capabilities, and then it exceeded all expectations. We did not let the success get into our heads; we just thought it was beginner’s luck. So, we leveled up with HONOR X9b 5G, and again it became a massive hit. Then HONOR X9c 5G came and it was our biggest feat yet, outdoing everything we’ve done in 2023 and 2024,” said HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng.

The HONOR X9 series has been synonymous with its exceptional durability, raising the bar year after year.  What began with 5-foot drop tests evolved into a 50-foot intense drop test-- and this year, HONOR X9c pushed to the extreme, dropped from a helicopter hundreds of feet above ground, further proving its unmatched toughness.

“One can only think about how we can even top the past three generations of HONOR X9 series. We must admit, it has become a challenge at this point, but with the technology and talent we have at HONOR, it is indeed a good challenge. I’m very excited for everyone to witness what we have been planning for the past few months,” Cheng continued.

That unforgettable moment—when 264 brave participants dropped their HONOR X9c 5G simultaneously—earned HONOR a coveted spot in the Guiness World Records for “The Most People Performing a Mobile Phone Drop Test Simultaneously.” This historic feat positioned HONOR Philippines as a benchmark in delivering credible, impactful messaging, reinforcing HONOR’s place as the standard for innovation, durability, and trust with the Filipino consumers.

The question remains, is HONOR ready to follow the success of the past HONOR X9 series? Stay tuned.

For more information and exciting announcements, you may visit HONOR’s website www.hihonor.com or social media platforms: Facebook (Facebook.com/HonorPhilippines), Instagram (Instagram.com/honorph/) and TikTok: (Tiktok.com/@honorphilippines).

In the meantime, check out HONOR’s wide array of mobile phones, tablets, and laptops at any HONOR Experience and Partner Stores nationwide (https://www.hihonor.com/ph/retailers/) or online via Shopee (https://bit.ly/HONORPHShopee), Lazada (https://bit.ly/HONORPHLaz) and TikTok Shop (https://bit.ly/HONORTikTokShop).

The new year is in full swing, with fresh plans, back-to-work routines, errands, and life settling back into rhythm after the holidays. As days pick up pace again, small inconveniences become more noticeable, like waiting in checkout lines, fumbling for wallets, or typing out full card details online.

Many EastWest cardholders are discovering a easier, simpler workaround: paying with just a tap of their phone through Google Pay™.
Google Pay is now available in the Philippines for compatible Android and Wear OS devices, and EastWest is one of the first local banks to support it. Cardholders can add their EastWest Visa or Mastercard credit card to Google Wallet and start paying instantly — in stores, in apps, and online — without ever reaching for their physical card.

Smoother Steps Through the New Year
Faster grocery runs

The start of the year comes with packed schedules and full carts. Checkout does not have to slow you down. With Google Pay, simply unlock your phone and tap it on the contactless terminal. Payment goes through in seconds. No card swiping, no fumbling, no delay.
Online shopping without typing anything
Restocking essentials? Booking trips? Paying for deliveries?
Google Pay eliminates the need to enter long card numbers or security codes. Select Google Pay at checkout, confirm, and you’re done.

Commuting to avoid holiday traffic

Beat the traffic and take public transport. Taking the MRT-3 can cut your travel time in half and, best of all, it’s tap to pay enabled. Travel safe by keeping your wallet secure in your bag. All you need to do is tap your phone on the turnstile to pay.

Why the Tap Life Works

The value isn’t only speed — it’s the ease you feel.

  • It’s secure. Google Wallet uses tokenization, so your real card number isn’t shared with merchants.
  • It’s widely accepted. Contactless terminals in groceries, cafés, shops, and more already support tap-to-pay.
  • It’s consistent online. Many apps and websites now allow fast checkout through Google Pay.
  • It’s convenient. You can head out with just your phone and still pay almost anywhere that accepts contactless payments.
It’s a simple upgrade to everyday life — one that becomes even more meaningful during the busiest time of the year.

EastWest’s Steady Push Toward Easier Banking

By enabling Google Pay for its credit cards, EastWest continues its shift toward easier, modern, and mobile-friendly banking. More card products, including select debit cards, are expected to follow as Google Pay adoption grows in the country.
Sometimes the best upgrades are the ones you barely notice, except for how much lighter your day feels. From paying in store to shopping online, the Bank helps simplify daily tasks so life runs a little more smoothly. The Tap Life brings a quiet sense of ease. A tap at the terminal, a tap online, a tap at the MRT, and you are done.

In a country visited by an average of 20 typhoons a year and prone to earthquakes, communities across the Philippines often face the daunting task of having to rebuild lives overnight. During these moments, collaboration becomes a lifeline, especially for thousands of Filipinos whose lives have been upended by disasters.

For the SM Group, helping communities get back on their feet is more than just a responsibility: it is a shared commitment woven into its culture of service. At the heart of this mission is Operation Tulong Express (OPTE), SM Foundation’s disaster response initiative.

Carried out through close coordination among SM Foundation, SM Markets, and SM Supermalls, OPTE brings together dedicated volunteer teams united by a shared commitment to serve those in need. SM Markets employees assemble Kalinga Packs in warehouse hubs that double as packing centers, while SM trucks and vans transport the goods to affected areas. On the ground, employee-volunteers from across the foundation and SM Supermalls lead the relief distribution in the spirit of bayanihan, personally delivering essentials and—in harder-hit areas—supporting medical missions that offer free consultations, first aid, and medicines.

For Andrea Rodriguez, SM Supermalls Regional Operations Head for Pampanga, service is rooted in lived experiences, especially since her family was among those affected by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991. Years later, she witnessed devastation firsthand during the 2019 earthquake that affected her province and the rest of Luzon.

“We were at the forefront during that time na tumutulong. In fact, as soon as tumigil ang pagyanig nung time na ‘yun, all hands on deck na kami,” she recalled.

Her first OPTE experience came earlier when, as a new SM employee, flooding hit communities near the San Fernando mall. “Hindi ko pa nun alam kung ano yung OPTE, pero ‘yung mga kasama ko sa mall, sabi nila, may opportunity para makatulong dun sa mga nabaha nearby. Sabi nila, ‘sama tayo,’” she shared.

One of her most vivid memories was when they provided support to an 80-year-old resident in a remote barangay in Angeles following widespread floods during the pandemic. “Nung inabutan namin, umiyak siya nang umiyak. Sabi niya, hindi siya makapunta dun sa barangay hall kasi binaha ang bahay niya... Sabi niya, parang akala niya, makakalimutan na siya. Pero ang saya-saya niya na pinuntahan namin siya, na may pag-asa,” Andrea shared.

According to Ana Datu, Regional Operations Head for Bulacan and CAMANAVA, the company’s strong culture of helping others has shaped the way employees live and work. Because of this, lending a hand has become second nature.

“We normally conduct OPTE in basketball courts so that mas marami ‘yung mapuntahan namin. But we also take time to go to the eskinitas — na kung minsan may naiiwan na mga bata at matatanda. Kapag nakita mo sila, parang may lungkot. ‘Nakalimutan kami, naiwan kami kasi nandun sila lahat sa basketball court,’” she shared. “But when they see us there with the Kalinga Packs at inabot mo ito sa kanila, they feel ‘Wow! Hindi kami nakalimutan. These are the people who remember us.’”

“When I joined SM, I learned that community service and social responsibility are a big thing here. It has been a culture. It has been a habit. And it's not difficult to imbibe this because you see it, and it transcends. It starts from the leaders, trickling down to the entire team. So, everybody's moving,” she added.

Regional Operations Head Ana Datu delivers essential relief to a flood-impacted resident, embodying the spirit of SM's volunteerism. She ensures even those in hard-to-reach areas feel: "Wow! Hindi kami nakalimutan."

Both Ana and Andrea highlighted how volunteering shaped their outlook on work and in life.

“If you see the environment and the environment forges you to help and to be empathetic to the plight of everyone surrounding the community, surrounding the mall, your community; then mai-imbibe mo siya,” Ana said.

A heartfelt embrace from a CAMANAVA resident receiving essential relief. By reaching deep into communities, SM volunteers ensure those affected feels remembered and supported, embodying the commitment of OPTE.

“It’s really great to be part of a team, a group that is able to support and help the community in good times and in bad times,” Andrea capped.

Operation Tulong Express (OPTE), a social good collaboration of SM Foundation, SM Supermalls and SM Markets, is the group’s disaster response initiative that provides immediate relief and essential goods to communities affected by calamities. In heavily impacted areas, it also deploys medical missions that offer basic healthcare and first aid.

[Manila, Philippines] EastWest Rural Bank (EWRB) marked its 12th anniversary with an outreach initiative that reached schools located in far-flung communities and areas affected by Typhoons Tino and Uwan. The program ran from November 5 to 20, 2025, covering selected public schools across Regions 5, 6, 7, and 11.

A total of 590 learners and 49 teachers received Jollibee meals, drawing and coloring materials, rice packs, and EWRB giveaways as part of the Bank’s anniversary activities.

According to Sheila Marasigan-Bajado, President of EastWest Rural Bank, the activity shows the Bank’s intention to stay present in the communities it serves:

“Our team wanted to celebrate the anniversary by reaching out to schools that needed a boost after the recent typhoons. We are grateful to the teachers and school heads who welcomed us and allowed us to spend time with their learners.”

Teachers, school heads, and barangay representatives assisted in facilitating the distribution activities, which were conducted on-site in each community.

Overall, the outreach covered five public schools across four regions: Lipata Elementary School in Masbate and San Isidro Elementary School in Cataingan, both from Region 5; Cudian Elementary School in Brgy. Cudian, Ivisan, Capiz in Region 6; Combado Elementary School in Purok Pagtinabangay, Combado, Bogo City in Region 7; and Cayawan Elementary School in Manay, Davao Oriental in Region 11.

The anniversary outreach continues EWRB’s broader efforts to stay connected with schools and families in the countryside, especially during periods of recovery after natural calamities.

MANILA, Philippines – For many of us, a holiday trip isn’t just a break – it’s the moment we look forward to all year, the hard-earned vacation after months of juggling work. But as every traveler knows, holiday travel often brings added stress. With hotel and flight bookings filling up fast, experiences selling out quickly, and larger crowds of travelers everywhere, the trip you’ve been anticipating can easily become stressful.

This year, make it different. A truly worthwhile holiday trip starts with being prepared for everything. As you start getting ready, check out these four pro tips to make sure that every second of this long-awaited trip is worth it.

  1. Arrive earlier than normal during the holiday rush

With reports of long lines at the bag drop and longer queues at immigration, traveling during the holidays calls for being just a little bit earlier than usual – and doing everything you can ahead of time.

Check in online through your airline’s app or website, complete your e-travel in advance, and keep all your documents organized in one secure, easy-access pouch with digital copies also ready and saved on your phone.  A few extra steps of preparation can save you a lot of airport stress later.

  1. Leave a little room for spontaneous moments

Theme parks, ski passes, and city tours sell out fast in December. Of course, it helps as early as possible – but sometimes, even that can’t be helped. Here’s a pro tip: when planning your itinerary for a city or area, secure at least one main activity—the non-negotiable experience you really want to do—then leave space for spontaneous adventures and exploring on your own.

  1. Monitor the weather, and pack for it

Experiencing a “white Christmas” is on many people’s bucket lists this year. If you’re flying to Seoul, Nagoya, New York, or any other snowy destination, make sure you’ve packed your thermals, layers, and warm socks. Also, have a coat ready at the plane, so you don’t get too cold upon arrival!

  1. Use GCash to pay for an ultimate guilt-free, shock-free spending holiday

One of the biggest stressors while traveling is managing expenses. Bill shock from credit cards, unexpectedly high exchange rates, hidden fees, and overspending that you only realize weeks later can quickly disrupt a trip meant to be relaxing. This year, you can avoid all that with GCash and by following its simple shock-proof, worry-proof shopping method: Scan-Swipe-Tap.

When you pay with GCash abroad, you gain real-time control over your spending, enjoy low forex rates that update instantly in the app, avoid hidden service fees, and benefit from fast, convenient transactions all throughout your trip. Here’s how:

Scan: Pay with GCash to Scan to Pay at merchants abroad. Simply look for the Alipay+ logo when paying in-store or ordering at restaurants. This way, you don’t need to scramble for cash, and you can even unlock exclusive promos along the way!

Swipe: You can also pay with the GCash Visa Card abroad, especially for the bigger items you’ve saved up for. Unlike credit cards with high FX fees, there are no additional charges with the GCash Visa Card. Your transactions are automatically recorded in-app, so you always see how much you’ve spent – no bill shock.

Tap: For Android users, take your payments even further with the new GCash Tap to Pay feature. Just tap your phone on any NFC-enabled terminal and pay within seconds – perfect for major shopping hubs and seamless checkouts in crowded places where convenience is key.

Don’t forget these 4 pro-tips and make sure you Scan–Swipe–Tap for a trip that’s easier, lighter, and truly worth it—just as a holiday should be.
