Like his father before him, John Dizon, Jr. and his family have been long-time stewards of protected trees in their community in Tuba, Benguet. When the time came for him to take up the mantle, he did so willingly to honor his father’s legacy

John Dizon, Jr. of Benguet-based environmental conservation group NAMALISA plants trees in support of SM Foundation’s and Fast Retailing Foundation’s Grow Trees Community project.
.

“My father passed away in 2012. It was then that we found out that the area he is managing in collaboration with the government was part of a community-based forest management program,” said Mr. Dizon.

A year later, Mr. Dizon, who now heads the Benguet-based environmental conservation group, Nagawa, Manganese, Liw-Liw, Sadle Agroforestry Assoc. Inc. (NAMALISA), started working closely with the SM Foundation for an inaugural tree-planting campaign back in 2013 to pick up where his father had left off in his advocacy.

With the impact of climate change more felt in recent years, Mr. Dizon shared the importance of planting more trees in communities to thin out air pollutants in keeping the air fresh and people healthier. The trees which his father planted also helped prevent soil erosion and landslides caused by earthquakes.

He nurtures a dream that some of his children will take after him to help protect the environment. Getting closer to that dream, one of his sons is eyeing a career in forestry, a nod to his father’s chosen field.

To further this advocacy, Mr. Dizon supports the reforestation initiative of SM Foundation, Inc., the social good arm of SM, and the Fast Retailing Foundation (FR Foundation), a general incorporated foundation in Japan through the Grow Trees Community campaign.

The project aims to plant and grow forest trees such as the Benguet pine, Alnus or Calliandra and Coffee trees to also help create livelihood opportunities for the community by working closely with People’s Organizations such as NAMALISA in Tuba, Benguet.

The proponents teamed up with SM Supermalls and government partners such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Philippine National Police, Philippine Information Agency and the local government of Tuba.

Grow Trees Community was previously launched in Nasugbu, Batangas, and Macabebe, Pampanga. Across the three locations, the project aims to plant over 200,000 seedlings and propagules.

It is in support of the SM Green Movement that seeks to improve the quality of life of communities through sustainable solutions to promote a green planet, green living, and a green culture.

FR Foundation focuses on promoting research designed to help make the world a better place, spurring technological development, nurturing human resources, and supporting socially vulnerable individuals or groups. It is part of Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., the leading Japanese retail company that owns a well-loved casual wear brand, Uniqlo.

Many people have become more aware of the importance of sustainability in everyday living during the two years that the world faced the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Environmental awareness has caught on through practices such as shifting to paperless, reducing plastic use, and planting more trees. For property developers, taking part in this movement means transitioning into green buildings and developments.

Such is the case for SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), a publicly listed subsidiary of SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) that is committed to building innovative and sustainable lifestyle cities. SM Prime is future-proofing its developments to be more responsive and adaptive to community needs and the effects of climate change in line with comprehensive sustainability goals ranging from energy to ecology.

Over the years, SM Prime has continued to elevate its approach to building and development of community spaces. All these green initiatives have been recognized by reputable and well-known organizations such as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) which awarded Conrad Hotel Manila and SM Aura Premier the Gold certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Building green office spaces

The SM empire is owned and has been run by the Sy family for the past 64 years

SM’s Commercial Property Group is renowned for balancing green design features with operational and practical considerations, enabling more companies and locators to enjoy environmentally sound commercial developments.

The CPG’s flagship properties are its five E-com Centers – all future-forward buildings catering mainly to technological, business process outsourcing, and Fortune 500 companies. All five E-com Centers are located in the MOA Complex. Each building has a proportionate amount of green open spaces and communal areas where workers can socialize and decompress from work.

CPG further promotes sustainable practices with its LEED gold-certified office buildings, solidifying its foothold and commitment to building green offices and commercial developments. These certifications are a testament to SM Prime’s dedication to reducing its contribution to global climate change – all while enhancing the quality of life within its communities.

The ThreeE-com Center boasts architectural wonders and green features that eventually earned its LEED Gold certification. These include water recycling for landscape and non-potable use. The building is fitted with glass windows that minimizes heat from entering the building, allowing tenants to use less air conditioning. This 15-storey, semi-circular twin-tower office building features function and aesthetic complemented with state-of-the-art facilities. While it was the first office building in the Mall of Asia Complex to receive such an honor, the new FourE-com Center also recently achieved the same certification – designed with its tenants’ needs in mind, improving work-life balance and office culture accordingly.

Both designed by globally renowned firm, Arquitectonica, the Three and Four E-coms are unique amongst business centers. “We designed the E-coms to functionally meet the BPO industry’s need for large, continuous floorplates, but also sculpted them in interesting ways so as to allow views and airflows between the buildings, while also, of course, giving them interesting architectural identities. At the same time, their landscaped podium decks create attractive communal green spaces for the tenants; they are envisaged to be interconnected via landscaped skybridges in the future. The combination of all these factors, architectural design and green spaces, have made the E-coms highly attractive to multinational companies and brands,” said David Zaballero, Arquitectonica Director.

Meanwhile, SM Prime’s tallest skyscraper located along EDSA will also join the company’s growing roster of LEED-certified green buildings. Called Mega Tower, the 50-story office building is future-ready as it provides spaces that respect both its tenants and nature itself.

Strategically located in the busy Ortigas Centre, the 50-storey LEED registered skyscraper is flexibly designed to meet the requirements of both corporate and BPO tenants. Though its design is highly sculptural, each floorplate remains efficiently planned – combining functionality and iconic identity.

“Incorporating sustainability in property development means having the whole life cycle of a building in mind. We invest a tenth of our capital expenditure to ensure that sustainability is integrated into our properties as we carefully plan our developments for our communities, the environment, and future generations ,” SM Prime’s Mr. Lim said.

In close collaboration with the SM Group’s other business units, the CPG’s multi-segment or mixed-use approach maximizes the socio-economic potential of its buildings and developments. As a result, SM’s commercial developments are connected to our malls, residences, and parks and civic spaces. Notably, they are all easily accessible to transport hubs to ensure mobility for pedestrians and the commuting public. This interconnectivity, alongside each property’s green and safety features, reduces the company’s carbon footprint, attracts more tenants and locators, and encourages greater productivity among its workforce.

Christmas is unstoppable as SM malls in Baliwag and Puilan treat shoppers, especially kids, to the grand unveiling of their thematic centerpieces—the Sparkling Holiday Dreamland and Country Christmas, the newest holiday destinations in the province.

In SM City Baliwag, shoppers were amazed as the Sparkling Holiday Dreamland centerpiece transported mall patrons’ imaginations to a royal dreamland straight out of a fairytale book. The attraction is surrounded by white and gold carriages, arch towers, gold benches, 3D stars, and moon on clouds that perfectly symbolize the lyrics of this year’s theme—the timeless Christmas carol "We Three Kings."

"Christmas is for children, it is said, and this year, we are happy to finally celebrate the most wonderful season with kids here at SM," shares Assistant Vice President for Operations Ana Datu.

The centerpiece also highlights a 30 feet high and 10 feet diameter Christmas tree outlined with majestic LED light installations. The colors of the season are very much alive with hundreds of red, green, and gold Christmas balls and ornaments surrounding the tree.

Meanwhile, SM Center Pulilan debuts a Country Christmas centerpiece resembling ‘holiday on a farm' experience, featuring a 17-feet tall Christmas tree as the main attraction. Shoppers will feel giddy as this Christmas destination is surrounded by horse displays, fancy grass, wood patterns, fun-filled swings, and lighted lamp posts. It also highlights a 12-by-8-feet barn house perfect for taking picturesque moments. Such elements were inspired by the popular children’s Christmas song Jingle Bells, the theme of this year's centerpiece.

SM Center Pulilan's grand Christmas launch also showcased special performances from Pulilan’s homegrown talent group, the Folk Jumpers, in their cowboy costumes.

In line with the launch of the holiday centerpiece, SM’s annual tradition of the Bears of Joy to keep and collect also begins at SM City Baliwag. For every bear purchased, another will be donated to a community charity. In Baliwag, Bears of Joy will be donated to public school children of Baliwag South Central School on Christmas Day.

The coming days will be merrier as SM City Baliwag and SM Center Pulilan celebrate Christmas in full swing with festivities, Christmas markets, and entertainment the malls have in store all throughout the holiday season. Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings is now a go-to product for many of our kababayans following two years of uncertainty. Among them are (from left), working student James Tan, former housekeeper Carie Labro and construction worker Royce Jason Velez

More than two years after the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Filipinos raring for a restart actually improved their mindset towards saving money, according to a recent survey by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

This is a welcome development, considering that 34% of the population lost their source of income during pandemic years, based on a survey conducted by the United Nations Development Programme. As a result, many have relied entirely in their savings account in order to survive the last two years.

According to the BSP’s Consumer Expectations Survey for the first quarter of 2022, the percentage of household with savings increased marginally at 31.1 percent from 30.2 percent in Q4 of 2021.Majority of the respondents cited the need for emergencies, health and medical expenses, retirement, education, and business capital and investment as reasons to save their money.

A big help in this increase in mindset and enthusiasm is the availability of more options to save money, aside from traditional banking institutions.

Cebuana Lhuillier makes life easier and dreams come true with Micro Savings

One of the most innovative means to save is through Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings. Launched in 2019 by Cebuana Lhuillier and its banking arm Cebuana Lhuillier Bank, this product has been in the forefront of bringing easy, accessible, reliable banking to majority of Filipinos, with close to seven million micro savings account holders today.

“Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings empowered millions of Filipinos to embark on their very own financial journeys by giving them a reliable, accessible, and efficient way to save their money, which they can easily withdraw during times of need. The quick adaptation of our kababayans to micro savings proved that the healthy mindset towards saving has always been there, as long as they are equipped with the right tools,” says Jean Henri Lhuillier, president and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.

Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings—which allows customers to open an account in any of over 3,000 Cebuana Lhuillier branches nationwide for as low as only P50—was introduced as a means to address the barriers to saving, including lack of accessibility, high maintaining balance, and the need for numerous documentary requirements to open an account.

With businesses and the rest of the country slowly getting back to normal, Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings remained a go-to product for many of our kababayans ready to resume their lives and dreams following two years of uncertainty.

For James Tan, an 18-year-old working student from Sta. Rosa, Laguna, saving meant enjoying the added mobility, safety, and convenience of having his own bike, a useful tool for his daily commute between work and school.

“Gusto ko kasi magka-bike kasi sapamasahe pa lang, malakinamatitipid ko papuntasa school at satrabaho. So, yungpaunti-untikongpag-iiponsaCebuana, ginamit ko yun para mabiliyungpangarapkong bike. Hindi naako nata-trapik o nale-late satrabahongayon,” he shares.

(“I want to own a bike because I can save so much on fares commuting to school and work. So that’s why I saved with Cebuana enough to buy my own bike. Now I don’t get stuck in traffic and come to work late.”)

As a working student helping to support his family, James decided to continue his savings after buying the bike to also help augment the expenses from home.

The need to provide a better future for their family is also why Royce Jayson Velez, a 36-year-old construction worker, decided to open a Micro Savings account. Earning an average of P400 per day, Royce and his wife needed to be creative in order to stretch his salary to last until the next payday. His micro savings carried the family during difficult times, and are now being allocated for the schooling of his children.

“Sabi ko sasarili ko, ipagpapatuloy ko ang ipon ko para magamit ng mgaanak ko sapag-aaral at balangaraw, magkaroonsila ng magandangtrabaho (“I said to myself that I would continue saving so that I can send my children to school for them have good jobs in the future.”),” Velez shares.

For Carie Labro, a 38-year-old former housekeeper, her micro savings paved the way for her micro entrepreneurship. When her kids started asking for more time to spend with her, Carie decided to take a leap of faith and resign from her post as a housekeeper so she could be more present for her growing kids.

With the PHP10,000 she initially saved in her Micro Savings account, Labro opened a small store which she now maintains as her main source of income. Like Velez, she has vigilantly kept up with her micro savings. She now saves part of her earnings in her account as an emergency fund for her and her kids.

Taking advantage of the renewed interest in saving, Cebuana Lhuillier Bank continues to push for accessibility and convenience for their breakthrough product. The two-time Asian Banking & Finance Award winner for Rural Bank of the Year has adapted an innovative approach by adapting more tech features for micro savings.

“The success of Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings encouraged us to further push the envelope in bringing convenience, accessibility, reliability, and efficient banking to our clients. The change in how people access financial services nowadays served as our push towards digitalization,” said Cebuana Lhuillier Bank President Dennis Valdes.

Aside from Cebuana Lhuillier branches, micro savings accountholders can also withdraw cash anytime, anywhere in over 21,000+ BancNet ATMs nationwide, purchase online thru UnionPay merchants worldwide, enjoy 24/7 unlimited banking access with the eCebuana app, and make cashless payments in over 350,000 UnionPay and BancNet accredited stores nationwide.

The country has been undergoing a sugar shortage for the past few months, causing sugar prices to soar. The price surge of this kitchen staple has affected the purchasing power of Filipinos who are already having difficulty coping with inflation. Given how sugar is a key ingredient in most dishes, many people have struggled to make their lives and dishes sweeter.

Fortunately, there’s a healthy alternative that can help solve Filipinos’ sugar woes. Stevia is a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It is 300x sweeter than sugar but has zero calories and does not cause spikes in blood sugar levels. It is better than chemical-based artificial sweeteners because it does not have any aftertaste or carry potential health risks.

This wonder plant can be used for baking, as a food enhancer for cooking and to sweeten hot and cold drinks without guilt. What’s great about Stevia is how it sweetens food and beverages naturally, unlike sugar which has been linked to obesity and diabetes. Moreover, Stevia is considered nonglycemic, meaning it does not affect one’s blood pressure levels.

Given these health benefits, swapping Stevia with refined sugar can be a complete game changer for people who want to make healthier food and beverage choices and maintain a healthy weight range.

(From left) Au De Leon, president and chief executive officer of Glorious Industrial and Devlopment Corporation (GIDC, The Stevia Company), sharing the healthy benefits of stevia as a natural alternative to sugar and Cecille Miciano, marketing manager for GIDC .

Understanding Stevia’s potential to address Filipinos’ sugary dilemma, Glorious Industrial & Development Corporation (GIDC), also known as the Stevia Company, launched a lineup of naturally sweetened and healthy beverages. GIDC, the Stevia Company’s lineup of products under its Glorious brand, includes the Glorious 3in1 Premium Coffee and Glorious Iced Tea Mixes and the Sweet & Fit Stevia Tea.

“We understand how important sweetness is to Filipinos’ taste palette,” said Au De Leon, president, and chief executive officer of GIDC, The Stevia Company. “By making Glorious available nationwide, we want to empower more Filipinos to discover a healthier way to make their lives sweeter.”

The company’s latest products are not only good for one’s body but also taste great. Hence, people don’t need to sacrifice flavor to care for their health. All Glorious beverages are sweetened with Stevia and every teaspoon of Stevia is equivalent to three teaspoons of refined sugar.

Glorious Premium 3in1 Coffee Mix is a delicious coffee blend sweetened with Sweet & Fit Stevia. It is recommended for people with sugar-related concerns, weight watchers and other health-conscious individuals. Sweet & Fit Stevia has zero calories, zero fat, zero sodium, zero carbohydrates and zero cholesterol.

People who want to control their sugar intake can now sweeten up their lives and favorite fruit teas with Glorious Iced Tea Mixes. This product comes in three flavors: Red Berries, Lemon and Cucumber. Meanwhile, Sweet & Fit Stevia Tea can be used to make other hot or cold beverages together with non-dairy milk or fresh fruits for a healthy little pick-me-up.

Ready as always, he starts to belt out his iconic “Christmas in our Hearts” song. While Tito Joe is singing, a Portable Microphone is passed around the room, giving others a chance to sing along with him. As everyone joins in, your heart feels a sense of warmth and joy, as the room gets filled with song and laughter.

Finally, you’re back at the spot you were earlier, snuggled by the warm knitted blanket. To finish the night and while waiting for 12AM to strike, a hot batch of coffee made from a French Press is served to everyone. Malaysia-based singer-songwriter liesl-mae reflects on her struggles with mental health in her compelling new single “Raincloud.” Addressing the cyclical nature of depression and its damning effects, the inspiring young artist hopes to engage in a discussion to dismantle the social stigmas surrounding mental health.

The song begins with a posed question: “When was the last time you felt happy?” On the surface, it is a seemingly benign inquiry. However, unable to respond, the question initiates an unexpected internal monologue traversing the uniquely human blight of depression and anxiety. Artfully woven together with vivid metaphor and thoughtful lyricism, liesl-mae puts the feelings of hopelessness into words that creep malignantly into one’s mind – lying restlessly in the wake.

Her pristine vocals shine brightly through the track’s guitar-driven melodies, ambient pads, and pulsating basslines. Gradually building up from an intimate, campfire-esque start to a grandiose conclusion, the track brims with elaborate orchestral arrangements and ebullient drumming. An old soul at heart, liesl-mae’s deceptively simple songwriting has captivated the hearts and minds of her rapidly growing constituent of fans, desperate to seek out a voice that speaks to their own experiences.

On writing about mental health, a topic the burgeoning songstress handles with the utmost care and consideration, liesl-mae approaches “Raincloud” as if it were an “open letter to depression” itself. Steering clear of accusatory language or being overly critical of herself, the song’s gentle and unassuming approach to storytelling allows it to explore some of life’s most difficult, and oftentimes pertinent, questions in a congenial manner. Despite how life may appear on the outside, the song is in essence about “feeling bad for feeling bad.”

The inexplicable nature of depression causes a neurotic downward spiral into self-loathing – “wishing bad things upon myself to make up for feeling bad” explains liesl-mae. “For the first time, I channelled anger into my music… [It’s] an emotion I’m not used to outwardly expressing. Carefully crafting the sonics of the track with Mixed by Wong (engineer), “Jose Ong (producer) was really able to bring those feelings to life with the arrangement of this song. It was a very cathartic experience to be able to let it all out.”

Having opened for the Here Comes July pre-listening party for Sinarku on the 27th of August, liesl-mae also made her festival debut at Good Vibes Weekender on 24 September, alongside the likes of Jackson Wang, Pink Sweat$, and beabadoobee, to name a few. Working towards the release of her first full-length EP in the former half of 2023, liesl-mae’s artistic sails have just begun to unfurl.

“Raincloud” is out now on all digital music platforms via OFFMUTE.

One Meralco Foundation (OMF) has teamed up with more organizations to further its sustainable reforestation program aimed at contributing to environment preservation and improvement of the lives of more Philippine communities.

The social development arm of Meralco signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Butuan City Water District (BCWD), Fostering Education and Environmental Development (FEED), and Participatory Research Organization of Communities and Education towards Struggle for Self-Reliance of Bohol (PROCESS Bohol) for the One For Trees (OFT) program.

Under the OFT program, OMF provides funding for reforestation activities such as establishment of nurseries, planting of seedlings during the appropriate season, and continued monitoring of the trees planted. OMF plans to nurture and protect at least 5 million trees by 2025, while providing sustainable livelihood to communities around conservation sites.

The new partnerships will expand the reach of the program to the provinces of Agusan del Norte; Laguna; and parts of Bohol. The new OFT partners have identified specific targets to help their respective communities.

For BCWD, from the province of Agusan del Norte will plant 48,000 trees in the Taguibo Watershed to sustain the forest reserve in the watershed enabling quality water supply for the people of Butuan City.

FEED, on the other hand, targets to plant 100,000 trees in the Laguna-Quezon Land Grant site in Siniloan, Laguna which is planned to be developed as a major biodiversity hub in the Sierra Madre mountain range.

Meanwhile, PROCESS Bohol will rehabilitate upland and coastal forest patches damaged by the rampage of Typhoon Odette in Anda, Pilar, Ubay, Candijay, Mabini, and Carlos P. Garcia in Bohol. Through OFT, PROCESS Bohol plans to nurture 100,000 trees of which 50,000 are mangroves.

For OMF, with the help of these organizations, OFT can deliver a sustainable solution to the environmental and economic needs of the marginal communities.

The OFT is a long-term commitment to the environment and to the people, which is anchored on sustaining partnerships with Civil Society Organizations, Local Government Units and communities – a pledge to collectively work for climate action.

"Some may see our efforts as a mere tree-planting, tree-growing, or tree-nurturing with a very high survival rate target. Yes, we require those. But more importantly, One For Trees also invests at building the capacities and improving the economic welfare and social well-being of the people who maintain these trees and ensures that the same trees will also benefit their own families and communities." said Meralco Chief CSR Officer and OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao.

“Most of the work we will put into the vision of One For Trees requires waiting for so long, that only our children’s children will reap the fruit of these labors. May we all be patient and sometimes, impatient, so that the One For Trees program will flourish long after we have planted the seeds of our work,” added Tarayao.

The recent signing forms part of the OFT kick-off activities for this year, which also includes community tree-planting and learning visit in the Green Earth Heritage Farm OFT site located in San Miguel, Bulacan. These activities aimed at improving reforestation practices by learning from the partners’ experiences and getting more support from other stakeholders for the initiative.

#itsGoTyme as the Gokongwei Group partners with Singapore-based Tyme Group to launch financial solutions that are designed to offer Filipinos with a high-quality banking experience. GoTyme Bank combines a high-tech with a high-touch approach to bring financial solutions closer to more Filipinos. The GoTyme Bank “phygital” model, which combines physical touchpoints such as kiosks and bank ambassadors with secure digital transactions will help more Filipinos reach their full financial potential.

The last 10 years has seen an acceleration in fintech with digital banks and e-wallets, and the pandemic has accelerated the adoption of digital payments. While many Filipinos have become comfortable with access to fintech through basic accounts and cashless payments, there are still many financial solutions in the digital space that remains untapped in the local market.

Unlocking Potential

During the launch held last October 20 in Makati City, Nate Clarke, GoTyme Bank President and CEO, shared how GoTyme Bank’s next-level banking experience will be able to address gaps in Filipino financial services. “Less than 3% of Filipinos have access to affordable credit, such as a credit card. Which means they are often paying 10-20% per month for their short term borrowing needs. Less than 3% of Filipinos have access to insurance and less than 3% of Filipinos have access to high yield investments, such as stock and equities.”

He notes that Filipinos have unmet financial needs. “Every year millions of smart, employed Filipinos fall short of their potential because they do not have access to high-quality banking products. Through GoTyme Bank, we are here to unlock the financial potential of all Filipinos.”

High-Quality Perks

Albert Tinio, GoTyme Bank’s Co-CEO and Chief Commercial Officer shares how customers will enjoy the convenience of having accessible touchpoints. “At GoTyme we thought that going digital does not mean losing our human touch. In fact, it became our call out, to be digital and physical at the same time, “phygital” so to speak. To keep the human connection always, GoTyme Bank will have kiosks that are strategically located across the Robinsons ecosystem. With our next-level customer service, these kiosks will always have a bank ambassador to guide you through the process. Using kiosks, we aim to solve access and extend reach. By deploying kiosks to Robinsons retail stores and malls, you can now create an account where you shop, eat and relax."

The GoTyme Bank debit card allows you to make transactions 24/7 from local and international ATMs. For further convenience, one can also deposit and withdraw for free at Robinsons-affiliated retail outlets. There are already 15 kiosks in select Robinsons supermarkets that are ready to serve customers, with more locations set to open in the coming weeks. The GoTyme website will be constantly updated to show all the locations across Robinsons supermarkets and department stores.

3S : Send, Shop, and Save

GoTyme Bank’s Head of Brand Marketing and Growth, Raymund Villanueva and Chief Product Officer, Daniel Stacey shared the value propositions one can expect with a GoTyme Bank account. With the GoTyme Bank debit cards, sending money, shopping and saving become more convenient as this can be used for both online and in-store transactions here and abroad.

With Go Send, GoTyme Bank customers can easily and securely transfer funds from the app, with three free transfers a week, on top of the free GoTyme to GoTyme transfers.

The Go Shop feature gives customers a better shopping experience. With each swipe of their GoTyme debit card, a customer earns 3 times Go Rewards points at partner Robinsons stores and 1 point if they shop anywhere else making it one of the better modes of payment for the Gokongwei Group. These points can also be redeemed as cash, straight from their mobile apps.

With Go Save, one will earn interest with no worries on promo durations, minimum balances or maximum caps. GoTyme Bank also introduced “Save Your Change”, which allows you to save by rounding up to the nearest 10 or 100 pesos and putting that amount automatically in to your Go Save accounts.

The better choice

Lance Gokongwei, who heads the Gokongwei Group, shares how GoTyme Bank aligns with their vision for the Philippines. “The mission of GoTyme Bank to unlock every Filipino’s financial potential presents another great opportunity for us at the Gokongwei Group to deliver on our purpose, which is ‘an unrelenting commitment to provide our customers with better choices, creating shared success with our stakeholders.’ Together with our partner Tyme Group, we are all set to disrupt the industry and make GoTyme Bank the ‘better choice’ that will provide greater financial empowerment for Filipinos. At the heart of this meaningful breakthrough is our deep commitment to improve the lives of our fellowmen, and to ultimately help bring forth a more prosperous society.”

By leveraging the Gokongwei Group’s extensive ecosystem, GoTyme Bank will be able to provide Filipinos with greater access to high-quality banking products. The bank’s digital kiosks are deployed across the group’s retail and real estate footprint, which is highly integrated into the daily lives of Filipinos. This democratizes the delivery of financial services to address the needs of all Filipinos regardless of age, income, or geography.
