Following the success of her debut single, “In Situ,” the 20-year-old Indonesian singer-songwriter offers us another peek into her personal life with her signature storytelling style.

"I wrote this song based on a personal experience that I went through back in high school,” the alt-pop artist shares. “I was really in my feelings and made this song in about 10 minutes. The song was initially really short, but the bridge came along later, and I'm really proud of how it turned out."

The ballad dives quickly into Mezzaluna's sultry vocal delivery of disappointment and hopelessness. The dark piano melody builds through the chorus as she turns to desperation for answers, and as the second verse drops, a sense of strength rings true. "I told you I'm the one who stood there by your side, that's why I beg."

The strings come in as the piano arpeggios intensify and Mezzaluna longs for the truth she knows deserves. The bridge follows in a freefall of acceptance of the unknown and the uncontrolled as she transforms the darkness into hope.

"I had the intention to create an arrangement worthy of a James Bond theme song,” says the Indonesian newcomer. “So my biggest inspiration for this track was Adele's 'Skyfall' and Sam Smith's 'Writing's on the Wall'. I think this theme matches my image and vocal range the most."

“I Beg” marks Mezzaluna's second collaboration with Indonesian industry veterans, producer Gio Wibowo and creative director Deby Sucha. Wibowo, who had previously worked with her on 'In Situ', gathered a team to work on 'I Beg' this time round. The accompanying music video was left in Sucha's capable hands, having previously directed Mezzaluna's first music video.

Mezzaluna shares, "I worked with Deby Sucha again for the music video and this time, I surrendered everything to her because I trusted her work on my previous video. She came up with the brilliant idea of giving the music video the karaoke treatment and it was amazing. Although it’s not my usual aesthetic, it was great to step out of my comfort zone and try something new."

I Beg” is available on all digital streaming platforms from 25th February 2022 via OFFMUTE.

Coco Martin, famously known as Cardo Dalisay on-screen, is making rounds all over as he debuts his endorsement not of the partylist with the same name as his show, but of a new party-list – AP Partylist #AkoyPilipino on Friday, February 25.

“Anuman ang hirap na ating pinagdadaanan, may kakampi na tayo…” Martin introduced his new party-list group with first nominee Rep. Ronnie Ong in-action in the background in the partylist’s video now circulating online. He continues, “Ang AP Partylist ang tutulong magbigay ng trabaho at kabuhayan sa mga manggagawang Pilipino.” Rep. Ronnie Ong is Coco Martin’s long-time friend and is nicknamed by PeopleAsia as the “frontliner Congressman.” Ong is known for his various out-of-the-box COVID-19 Bayanihan projects since the first lockdown, such as his #LibrengSakay program for healthworkers, #LibrengGulay program for community kitchens, #LibrengTablets and E-skwela Hub e-learning centers for students and teachers.

Before the pandemic, Ong also supported senior citizens looking for employment through his Tulong Pangkabuhayan program, deploying various able-bodied and willing-to-work seniors at airports, public universities and government agencies.

During the pandemic, he also helped out-of-work transport workers such as UV Express or FX drivers by employing them as #LibrengSakay drivers, as well as some laid-off ABS-CBN employees who found alternative work as contact tracers. More than just Coco Martin, the all-star cast of Ang Probinsyano forming the famed “Task Force Agila,” has also expressed their support for AP Partylist on their social media pages, sharing the various advocacies of AP Partylist closest to them. “Mula po noong umpisa nakasama na namin si Cong. Ronnie, at kita namin na nagtrabaho talaga siya, naglingkod talaga siya. Kaya ngayon, ang #164 AP Partylist na kasama siya ang sinusuportahan na namin. Sana po ay suportahan niyo rin,” Coco Martin said.

Aside from the endorsement video, AP Partylist also collaborated with OPM artists Bassilyo, Sisa and Smugglaz with their “Ako’y Pilipino,” anthem that sings of the pride, perseverance, and hardwork of Filipinos. They sing, “Ikaw ay magtiwala, magtiwalang may magagawa. Ito na ang panahon, ang tamang pagkakataon, sa bawat daing mo’y magtutugon. Ako’y Pilipinong lumalaban, tumatapang, lalo kung nasusugatan, anumang pagsubok ang daanan, haharapin nang may kagitingan. Itaas mo ang noo, isigaw mo sa buong mundo, ako’y Pilipino.”

Both videos are available on Youtube and on AP Party-list’s official social media pages. Coco Martin calls on the audience to join him on his new journey with his new partylist, “Dito na tayo sa biyaheng aasenso ang lahat ng Pilipino… AP Partylist #AkoyPilipino, number 164 sa balota.

Getting ready for the big day? Planning weddings can be daunting and exciting for all those involved, made even more complicated by the changing safety protocols in the last two years. If you’re recently engaged and don’t know where to begin, or if you’re one of the trusted friends and family tasked to make things happen, why not try sourcing all your wedding needs on Shopee? Brides and grooms-to-be can enjoy big discounts, coins cashback, and more at the Shopee Wedding Expo happening from February 26-27.

Shopee offers a very unique shopping experience, especially for couples looking to DIY their weddings and stylists who have to source their materials for the festivities. The Shopee Wedding Expo is packed with awesome deals from a wide assortment of wedding must-haves that’ll cover the preparations before the ceremony all the way to the reception. Be inspired by the stories of our Shopee Fam, newlywed couple George and T-Ann, and renowned event stylist Teddy Manuel, who prove that Shopee is indeed a gold mine for wedding essentials.

George and T-Ann achieve their DIY wedding on a budget with Shopee

Before getting married earlier this month, George and T-Ann faced difficulties canvassing materials for their wedding. The couple, who had been together five years, turned to Shopee to purchase almost everything they needed for their celebration. Although both were busy with their respective schedules (George running their family business and T-Ann just finishing her residency as a physician), they were able to contact and secure a few suppliers for their decorations. Still, they had a lot on their checklist which weren’t readily available.

With shopping malls and Divisoria being crowded and risky to visit, they opted to buy on Shopee the remaining materials for their arches, scented candles and table toppers, and even their souvenirs for more than 100 guests. Not only did the couple cut down significantly on expenses, but they also enjoyed the process of making the decorations. “Don’t be afraid to DIY. It adds a personal touch to the wedding. Our relatives all came together to help create some of our big decorations. These became priceless moments we’ll treasure together forever.”

For couples also considering a  DIY wedding, George and T-Ann advise them to focus on affordable, quality raw materials that look premium and professionally put together. The couple also suggests buying a sample first to check the quality before ordering in bulk. Want a fairytale-like wedding? The couple recommends these fairy and geometric lights that spruced up their venue and these personalized scented candles that served as giveaways to the guests. “Shopee really played a big part in our wedding preparations, as most items were already available there at very affordable prices. It was so convenient for us, since we didn’t have to worry about spending money on parking and gas and going to crowded places.”

Teddy Manuel turns to Shopee for his event styling needs

Teddy Manuel is a popular event stylist who has been making waves in the industry for almost two decades. Widely regarded as one of the pioneers in his craft, Teddy puts in a lot of time and effort in making his clients’ weddings aesthetically pleasing — from entrance decors for the entourage to the backdrop and ceiling works at the reception. When the pandemic hit, he had to adapt accordingly as sourcing materials internationally became a challenge due to stricter protocols and logistical delays. Teddy’s resourcefulness led him to try Shopee as his new go-to supplier.

With more couples opting for intimate weddings, Teddy focuses on the smallest details that can create a big impact at the wedding venue. He shares his most important tip for wedding planning: always be cohesive. “It’s important that everything ties together. Stick to a color scheme and work your way from there. Check Shopee for the specific products that you need and you’ll surely find a lot of options.” Among Teddy’s favorite Shopee finds are these hanging silk flowers and these white parasols, both of which add lush elegance to any event space. He also looks to Shopee for tableware such as this beautifully-crafted, gold-rimmed ceramic Nordic plate for the perfect finishing touch to his set-up.

“When you’re ordering online, it’s crucial that you read the description and contact the seller to get further information about the product. I’m grateful that I’ve gotten affordable and high-quality products on Shopee — and  since all I have to do is add them to my cart, it’s easier for me to manage other tasks and responsibilities for the wedding too.”

Here are some of the best deals to watch out for in the Shopee Wedding Expo, perfect for the ceremony proper or the reception that follows: a stylish but budget-friendly men’s formal suit, artificial flowers for venue decors, hook drop earrings to glam you up, and thick bottom sandals to complete your outfit.

The Shopee Wedding Expo will happen from February 26 to 27, 2022. You can also enjoy 10% off (minimum spend of ₱1,000, capped at ₱500) on select products and get a more rewarding shopping experience when you checkout using ShopeePay’s free shipping vouchers. Check out a bunch of wedding preparation deals for as low as ₱1 when you pay via ShopeePay at partner merchants such as Resorts World Manila and FlowerStore.ph. After the expo, you can proceed with shopping for more wedding needs by maximizing ShopeePay's free transfers feature and sending payments to suppliers that only accept bank transfers as a mode of payment.

Get 20% cashback when you book your hotel bookings, including Estacio Uno Boracay, Mithi Resort and Spa Bohol, and White Breeze Palawan on Shopee and pay with ShopeePay.

There are a lot of financial responsibilities when it comes to homeownership. You’ll be asking yourself what is my home worth? What is my budget to cover monthly costs? As well as many other questions and quandaries that come along with buying a house.

Some costs are obvious, while others don’t jump out right away.

1. Maintenance and Home Repairs

These potential extra costs are perhaps the most unpredictable.

You may have had an inspection that turned up needed repairs, and can therefore price out the work necessary. However, other fixes can arise once you are actually settled into the home that was not present before and come with the simple act of residing in the space.

Additionally, the more time you spend looking at your house you could see the potential for a new coat of paint here or replacing hardware there. These are smaller costs, but they can add up.

2. Lawn Care

Renters revel in the fact that they most often do not have to care for things like mowing the lawn, shoveling a sidewalk, or plowing a driveway. When you become a homeowner, this responsibility falls to you.

You can either hire a maintenance company to care for this for you, or you can do it yourself. Factors to consider are the size of your lawn and/or driveway, and how often you’ll need it taken care of.

3. Property Taxes

Property taxes are typically a factor for any home buyer. You will know roughly how much you will have to pay monthly upfront.

However, it’s not uncommon for taxes to go up, thus impacting your monthly budget.

Property tax is based on your town, state, or municipality’s tax rate, as well as your property value. Things that can make the tax go up are renovations on your home that change your property value, the area you live in becoming more popular with house prices rising, or a change to state and local budgeting.

4. Safety and Security

Even if you have moved into a neighborhood that has a low crime rate and feels safe to you, you may want to invest in security measures to protect you and your property.

This comes with homeowners insurance, of course, but extra layers of protection can add costs.

These can include alarm systems and cameras, as well as the money it takes to set them up. You may also pay a security company for surveillance.

5. Homeowners Association Fees

When you buy a property you will want to confirm whether this will be a factor for you. Homeowners Association Fees are collected by the neighborhood HOA, a private entity that manages all homes in a residential subdivision.

HOAs use these funds for things like ground maintenance, community facilities, and lawn and garden care.

This cost is separate from your mortgage and property taxes. Be aware that the HOA and community might vote to assess the neighborhood to pay for additional expenses such as renovations or new upgrades, so you should prepare for any fee increases as well.

Australian singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Benjamin introduces his
upcoming debut album with new single, “Weatherman,” out today via Vol. 1 Records/Epic
Records.

A defiant call for optimism in troubling times, the promising newcomer imbues his message of
hope with old-school soul and irresistible pop hooks.
Over lilting keys, Eddie begins “Weatherman” with a plea for brighter days. “Go tell the
weatherman I said, I want it sunny outside today,” he sings.

While the tone is uplifting, Eddie penned the song while battling anxiety. “I felt out of control and
didn’t know what to do,” the 20-year -old artist tells Rolling Stone. “I couldn’t help how I felt, and
it summed up all these extremities in a really vulnerable way. You’re talking to yourself, asking
for a sunny day.”

With its confessional lyrics and heady blend of soul, jazz, and pop, “Weatherman'' combines
his many influences for a sound that feels classic yet uniquely his. “I’d like to expose this
generation to timeless songcraft in a contemporary way,” he says.

The addictive track also arrives alongside a colorful video, which made its broadcast premiere
today via an MTV First Look, airing at the top of every music hour on MTV Live, MTVU, and
MTV Biggest Pop, and simultaneously via a Nickelodeon Music premiere. Watch it HERE.
The visual narrative highlights the rising star’s whimsical nature and love of all things classic.
Colorful, cryptic, and full of mysterious figures, it’s a surreal, rich video that suits the depth and
character of the track. Directed by Tyler Yee (Lana Del Rey, G-Eazy), it adds yet another
dimension to the richness of his textured sophistipop—upbeat yet complex, familiar yet new.
Alongside the release, Eddie joins Justin Bieber’s Justice World Tour, which kicks off tonight
in San Diego, CA, an appropriate fit for a pop visionary in his own right. The tour, which also
includes Jaden, Harry Hudson, and ¿Téo?, will traverse the US and Canada. Tickets are on
sale now and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com, while the tour routing can be found
below.

Eddie Benjamin’s “Weatherman” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is set to hold its inaugural sanctioned gravel world championships series, with the first event to take place in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija in the Philippines on April 03, 2022.

The Trek UCI Gravel World Series will serve as its alternative off-road version for the premier UCI Gran Fondo World Series and World Championships, and the winners will be awarded with the coveted UCI rainbow jersey.

The Switzerland-based governing body for sports cycling, which also oversees international competitive cycling events, announced in a press release in September last year that it will “organize—in collaboration with events organizer Golazo [Sports]—a UCI Gravel World Series consisting of events enabling athletes to qualify for the Trek UCI Gravel World Championships.”

With more than 15 events serving as qualifiers, the races are anticipated to be “mass participation events,” as Gravel continues to be a booming discipline around the world, combining elements of road and mountain bike, and takes place mainly on unsealed roads such as gravel, forest tracks, farm roads, and cobbles.

On the Trek UCI Gravel World Series’ first iteration’s criteria for participation, Erwin Vervecken, the off-road and gravel manager for Belgium-based sports marketing agency Golazo Sports, told American cycling magazine VeloNews that whereas the Gran Fondo focuses on masters and cyclotourists, the Trek UCI Gravel World Series is more geared towards non-professionals. “In gravel, elite riders of the top level, riders from the WorldTour, from UCI teams, can participate, can qualify and do world championships. We expect the top riders.”

In order to qualify for the 2022 Trek UCI Gravel World Series, participants must finish in the top 25% group per gender and age group, with each age group ranging five years between 19 and 79. Riders with no license, holds amateur and masters license, cycling for all license, and elite license. The equipment and course regulations of Gran Fondo will apply to Gravel World.

While the final list of locations are yet to be revealed, races will be held in select event venues in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

The Trek UCI Gravel World Series Philippines event will include an 85km (qualifier distance for 19 to 49) and 62km course (qualifier distance for 50 and above)—the majority of the race is flat and fast. Starting in Vega Grande, located north of Bongabon, the 85km course is a mix of flat gravel roads along the river, forest roads, and dirt roads. The shorter, 62km course includes a shortcut to the same finishing point of the 85km course.

The first race of the Trek UCI Gravel World Series will coincide with Bongabon’s festive season, which includes the Sibuyas Festival, held every 10th of April. The celebration is a form of thanksgiving for a bountiful onion harvest. Perfect in the summer, tourists can also enjoy the Falls Deepsap waterfall at Barangay Labi and a visit to Mount Labi Peak.

Bongabon Mayor Allan Xystus A. Gamilla is honored that the municipality will be part of the upcoming UPCI Gravel Series in the Philippines. “Bongabon, being an emerging destination for cycling tourism and outdoor recreation, offers breathtaking sceneries with the most wonderful views of the Philippines’ untapped countryside. It’s also a great place with exciting backroads, trails, and routes that every adventure seeker would be thrilled to experience. Perfect in the summer, tourists can also enjoy the refreshing rivers and the cool weather at Mount Labi. It is also the home of the Bongabon Bike Park in Ariendo, an Enduro and Downhill MTB destination for the gravity riders.”

As the first Trek UCI Gravel World Series inch closer, organizers hope that its inclusiveness and scale will inspire “any rider who wants a shot at the rainbow stripes.”

The 2022 Trek UCI Gravel World Series – Bongabon Philippines is supported by brands and institutions who push the sport forward for the cycling community: Black Mamba, 8A Apparel, Genesis Eyewear, iGsport, Milo and Yakult.

A month ahead of International Women’s Day, Filipino singer-songwriter Clara Benin lands on a Times Square, New York billboard as part of Spotify’s EQUAL Campaign.

The global movement, which serves as an initiative of the music streaming platform to amplify the work of outstanding women and gender-nonconforming musicians, turned its spotlight on Benin as this week’s cover artist of Spotify EQUAL Playlist in the Philippines, with two of her songs, “blink” and “Araw’t Gabi” occupying the top two slots.

“I feel really humbled to be featured on a Times Square billboard in New York and to have my songs be part of Spotify’s EQUAL playlist alongside these lovely and talented women,” the folk-pop phenom shares in a statement. “I really hope our music reaches and inspires more people from all over the world.”

Having amassed more than 30 million streams on Spotify alone, Clara Benin is the first Filipino signed under Sony Music’s OFFMUTE— a Southeast Asian record label that’s entirely dedicated to giving artists a voice, an audience, and an opportunity for cross-collaboration within the region.

Benin recently released a new single called “blink,” which was produced by acclaimed electronic/indie artist The Ringmaster, and features prolific multi-instrumentalist Gabba Santiago on drums. Honoring memories like a fundamental aspect of human nature, the song finds refuge in reliving Benin’s past without any hint of regret.

She is also currently working on several new songs to be released soon. “I’ve been writing a lot the past two years and very excited to work on them this year for an upcoming album.”

There is no doubt that young Filipinos are dreamers. Taking the word “hataw” (doing your best) by heart, they remain committed to their dreams and life goals despite several roadblocks they experience.

Take the case of 19-year old Raphael Santiago, a multimedia arts student. Together with his friends, they recently founded a clothing brand, ROLEMODEL.

It is the time of a pandemic; a phase in their lives when the world is almost discouraging for the younger generation. Yet, this “boredom” is what drove Santiago to persevere. “I think my boredom is slowly transforming into a career,” he said.

“I realized that life is short. I wanted to start living my life to the fullest by achieving my goals and making my dreams come true. Luckily, my friends also had the idea of starting a clothing brand,” he added.

They pursued their love for style and life through an online business. It does not only serve as a source of income but also a source of inspiration for young Filipinos. ROLEMODEL conveys messages of inspiration, motivation, and encouragement.
Energy for life

As they continue to face the challenges of the new normal and prepare for the future, young Filipinos are determined to be more energetic than ever. To keep them active and focused all throughout the day, they need a drink that is hataw sa energy and hataw sa sarap.

“We recognize the role of the youth in our society and we hope to help them succeed through the energy and delicious taste of Sting. Their determination is truly admirable. It inspires us to continue producing beverages that help Filipinos to be stronger and more energized,” said Frederick D. Ong, president and Chief Executive Officer of Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI).

A product of PCPPI, the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country, Sting is the perfect partner to sharpen the mind and body of every young Filipino. It is powered with B Vitamins, Taurine, and Ginseng Extract. Sting comes in a strawberry flavor in both 300ml and 330ml PET bottles.

Sting is available in supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, and sari-sari stores nationwide.

PCPPI is also the exclusive manufacturer of well-known beverage brands in the Philippines including Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, 7-Up, Mirinda, Gatorade, Tropicana, Lipton, Mug, Premier, Milkis, and Aquafina.

Just as K-Drama and K-Pop have surged in the entertainment scene, K-beauty is making inroads in the skincare and cosmetics industry. But is it here to stay? According to the data released by the Korea Customs Service and Korea Cosmetic Association, South Korean South Korean cosmetics exports climbed 16.1% to reach nearly USD7.6 billion in 2020 despite the pandemic.

Watsons, the leading offline and online (O+O) health and beauty retailer in Asia, was quick to recognize that K-Beauty “is highly sought after by our Watsons customers even during the pandemic,” says Susanna Yen, Exclusive Brands Director of Watsons International.

With this, “Watsons has partnered with a number of K-Beauty brands to deliver more choices to beauty lovers across Asia while helping to incubate up and coming brands to expand their penetration.

Mise En Scène and COSRX are two outstanding examples that show how Watsons has helped K-Beauty brands enter new markets and build up a strong market position.

Mise En Scène is a total hair cosmetic brand that offers a diverse range of hair styling products. The brand’s Perfect Serum has been Korea's #1 for nine consecutive years with its unique intensive care formula featuring seven nature-derived ingredients. This cult-favorite, along with Mise En Scène's other popular styling products, is exclusively available in Watsons online and select physical stores, promising shoppers smooth, silky, easy to style, and healthy hair.

COSRX, on the other hand, is another K-Beauty brand that has benefited hugely from its exclusive partnership with Watsons. This skincare brand was launched through Watsons in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines exclusively in 2017, resulting in a compound annual growth rate of over 80%.

Watsons also reinforces the demands for their K-beauty products by highlighting K-Beauty as part of their Asian Beauty Campaign.

“The demand of K-Beauty products keeps growing but due to the pandemic, customers are not able to travel to Korea to shop for the hottest K-Beauty products, so we have highlighted Watsons K-Beauty as part of the Asian Beauty Campaign. With over 5,000 products to choose from in-store and online, Watsons K- Beauty land is expected to become the go-to place for all K-Beauty lovers." Yuen mentioned.

Watsons' strong O+O capabilities enable customers to enjoy the benefits of convenient shopping either at home or in-store, which effectively helps K-beauty products and many other health and beauty brands to engage and connect with its target customers.

In the Philippines, Mise EnScene, COSREX and other K-beauty brands are available at Watsons stores located in most SM Supermalls nationwide.
