A Brighter Financial Future: BSP, DepEd, and BDO Foundation Champion Money Skills for All

It's exciting news for Filipino students and teachers! The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Department of Education (DepEd), and BDO Foundation have teamed up to make financial literacy a core part of learning in schools.

Imagine having over 300 ready-to-use lesson plans and 10 engaging videos right at your fingertips! That's exactly what teachers now have access to on the DepEd Learning Portal. These resources are designed to fit perfectly with the K-12 curriculum, making it easier for teachers to talk about things like saving, budgeting, planning for the future, and even spotting scams. It's all about helping students understand money in a way that makes sense for their everyday lives.

This big step is part of the BSP's plan to boost financial inclusion across the country, and it strongly supports DepEd's goal of teaching students essential life skills.

A big shout-out goes to BDO Foundation, the heart of BDO Unibank's social responsibility efforts. They've been key in creating these valuable learning materials, helping to raise a generation of young people who are smart and responsible with their money.

Secretary Sonny Angara of DepEd and Mario A. Deriquito, President of BDO Foundation, even shared a handshake, a symbol of their strong commitment to this important cause. And during a meeting on January 8, 2025, in Pasig City, BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat joined them to solidify their partnership, promising to spread these learning materials far and wide.

BDO Foundation, established in 2008, has a long history of helping communities through various initiatives, from disaster relief to building schools. Their work on financial education is just one more way they're contributing to a brighter future for the Philippines.
