An exceptional team with the ability to adapt different styles of gameplay, Team Zap Xavia – with members Panini, Wrensy, Supine, and Jas – won 1st Runner Up at the David’s Salon PubG Cup. They brought home not only a P15,000 cash prize, but also David’s Salon gift certificates hair and pampering services. Jas also bagged the Most Valuable Player award, with the cash prize of P5,000.

 The team has been playing together everyday for the past year and have won championships in local and international tournaments, but they knew they would be facing stiff competition. During the very first game they played, they immediately encountered teams they have played against before, and knew they were up against very strong players. They implemented brilliant strategies, and, complemented with a never-say-die attitude, bounced back on Day 2 of the Finals. “Day 1 kasi andun pa yung pressure. Kaso nung nilabas yung partial results, nasa Top 12 kami. Sobrang layo sa gusto naming placement – at least top 3,” Jas shares, “pagdating nung Day 2 nawala yung pressure, kasi naisip namin na malayo kami.” They did not expect to win, but their hard work and natural sportsmanship paid off when it was announced that they got the Top 2 placement for the entire tournament. 

Normally, female gamers face criticism from not only their fellow gamers, but even their families. Members of Zap Xavia can attest to this, as support from their parents was few and far in between. The David’s Salon Cup was a game changer for them. “Sa girls league, isa siya sa pinakamalaking tourna ng local,” shared Jas, “prestigious tournament para sa girls.” The familiarity of the David’s Salon brand also allowed their families to be open to gaming. “Pinapayagan na ako, dahil nanalo, hindi nila inexpect na makakarating sa ganito kalaking prize,” they share. Jas further explains, “kasi kilala po ang David’s Salon, so nung sinabi ko na maglalaro kami for David’s Salon, naging supportive sila.” 

To other girls who would like to get into gaming, Wrency advises to put your fierce face on, “mas maging competitive!” Jas encourages gamers, saying “kung passion mo talaga, kung may gusto ka talaga, as long as wala ka naming natatapakan, or wala ka naming name-miss sa school or deadlines, go for it.”

Following the announcement of Red Bull Dance Your Style in the Philippines, the top 16 competitors will face off at the National Finals to determine the country’s representative. The major event is set to go down this July 23 at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater.


Red Bull recently took a deep dive into the top 16 and provided a closer look at each competitor. The diversity of the competitors in terms of dance style was shown, but their shared passion for dancing and drive to represent the country was evident.


“I think going into this battle, it’s more about representing yourself, being true to your style because you never know whom you could actually impact.” shares Jesse Gotangco, one of the Top 16 dancers, when asked about his mindset heading into the National Finals. “Getting into the battle on the 23rd, First of all, I just want to have fun, represent myself, do my thing and hopefully entertain the audience but at the same time, uplift all my fellow battlers to do their best, so (whether we) win or lose, we get a good match.”



Part of representing the country in the World Finals is showcasing a piece of the country to the world. When asked about the incorporation of Filipino culture into the dance styles, Hip-Hop and Locking dancer Kristina Cabochan explains, “I think something very different in the Philippines is we’re very raw, and we’re very expressive, so andoon lagi yung damdamin [the emotions are always there]. I don’t think you can get far as a dancer in the Philippines if you’re just pure technique because you’re not connecting with people. I think that’s something very Filipino that we bring into the people.”


The winner of the National Finals will move on to the culmination of Red Bull Dance Your Style at the World Finals at Johannesburg, South Africa in December, where the overall champion will get the crown and title as the best dancer in the world.

Red Bull Dance Your Style is a global dance competition set out to find all the best dancers from all over the globe. They’ll be gathering together in one place for an intense dance battle set to test the diversity of their move-set and prove that they are the best dancer in the world.

We all know that the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) is a popular destination for unforgettable gastronomic and recreational experiences, but did you know that the 67-hectare Mall of Asia Complex where MOA stands is engineered to withstand disasters caused by natural hazards?

The foundation of the Mall of Asia Complex was built to be safe and secure because SM Prime Holdings, Inc., one of Southeast Asia’s largest integrated property developers incorporates disaster resiliency measures in every project, with the MOA Complex as one of its biggest investments.

SM Prime collaborated with a team of local and international experts to ensure the feasibility of both water and land before the MOA complex was built and once finalized, Belgium’s renowned coastal development construction company, Jan de Nul, developed it from the ground up.

The reputable Jan de Nul made sure the terrain was stable and the complex’s roads were made resistant to earthquakes and erosion, in accordance with the National Structural Code of the Philippines and approved by both the Philippine Reclamation Authority and the National Government.

As an added feature, both the Complex’s main road and all its structures are elevated 4 meters above the parameters set by the National Building Code. Pilings strengthened its foundation and greatly improved its soil bearing capacity.

 The Jollibee Group welcomed Yoshinoya International executives in a Partnership Ceremony on June 25 to celebrate their collaboration that will bring the authentic Yoshinoya Japan beef bowl experience to the Philippines.

Yoshinoya, Japan’s world-famous Beef Bowl Chain, is the first foray into Japanese food by the Jollibee Group. Jollibee Foods Corporation formed a joint venture with Yoshinoya International Philippines Inc. (“Yoshinoya International”) to operate the Yoshinoya stores in the country, with plans to expand to 50 stores in the long term.

The 24-year-old goal-getter, influencer, athlete, and host for CNN’s Cycling Unlimited TV show, Aira Lopez, proves that a healthy lifestyle is not as simple as a 30-day diet routine but a daily practice of healthy habits. SM scholar alumna Rizaly Lim is the accounting manager for the head office of SM Prime Holdings



TWENTY years ago, high school student Rizaly Lim and her four siblings would watch in awe every time they pass by the construction of the first SM City in her hometown Sta. Rosa, Laguna. All five children, packed in the tricycle their father rides for a living, were all excitedly looking forward to happy family weekends they would be spending at the huge mall.

Today, after graduating summa cum laude through a scholarship from SM Foundation, Rizaly is now a certified public accountant (CPA) working as accounting manager for the head office of SM Prime Holdings, a leading property developer in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

Rizaly finished high school at the Balibago National High School as class valedictorian in 2005 and was already sending applications for other college scholarships when her teacher asked the top 10 students to go to SM City Sta. Rosa for an interview with SM Foundation.





A few exams and interviews later, SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) went to visit her and her family at home to inform them that she would be receiving a full scholarship with a monthly allowance until she finished her course.



In 2010, Rizaly graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy. She went on to pass the Philippine CPA Board Exams on her first try in October 2010. The assistance of SMFI, she said, went beyond tuition and allowances. "With full scholarship grants and monthly allowances, as well as the opportunity to work at SM Store during our summer and Christmas vacations, the SMFI scholarship has enabled me to help my family financially."

To date, SM Foundation has assisted more than 8,000 college and technical/vocational students, and has donated over 100 school buildings with a total of 334 classrooms built across the country.
