John Lloyd Cruz First Endorsement Appearance After 2 Years. Is He Coming Back to the Limelight?

Photos and videos of matinee idol John Lloyd Cruz have been surfacing after being on hiatus from the showbusiness since 2017.




Cruz, one of the most bankable actors of the Philippine cinema and very effective endorser once again proved that his fans are still waiting for his return. In a teaser video, which lasted only for a few seconds and only shows the back shot of Cruz’s, and posted in the Facebook page of the number one selling shawarma Turks a few weeks ago had been viewed 3.2M times, shared almost 800 times and gained a huge number of comments.




Without any clue in that teaser video, his fans already assumed that it was him in the video. Actress Bea Alonzo on her Instagram also posted a screenshot of that teaser video, which garnered almost a million likes.




This Monday morning Turks finally revealed in the 1-minute and 17 seconds video of Cruz showing the actor walking through different destinations, which somehow depicts Cruz’s sojourn. The video is very simple, yet there’s drama the way it was created, and in a very subtle shot, he stopped and took a bite of a Turks pita donner.




The rugged look of Cruz in the Turks video titled Ang Pagbabalik is way too far from his guy-next-door image and a lot of people in the industry are asking if this signals his return to the limelight. His fans are still wondering about the life he’s been living since his hiatus.




According to Turks president Gem L. Zenarosa that during the course of his talks with Cruz, they never talked anything about his showbiz career or plans. He added that he got Mr. Cruz as the latest ambassador of Turks because of his great confidence working with Cruz.



“I am really grateful that John Lloyd trusts our company, he is a brilliant and very creative young man. Aside from acting we have discovered some of his remarkable talents,” Zenarosa stressed.




The Ang Pagbabalik according to Zenarosa is actually about Turks Small Pita Doner, which will be available again in all its branches.



“John Lloyd is the best endorser for this because like him, despite his absence in the showbusiness for a couple of years, the warmth and love of his fans for him never dwindles. With our Small Pita Doner we believe that our customers will be happy to know that it is back in our menu,” Zenarosa explained.




Just like Cruz who is seen to have a different image since he last appeared in the big screen, a clear indication that the actor is recreating himslef and exploring different grounds, Turks is also doing the same thing to keep its customers excited whenever they visit a branch.




In time for the release of Cruz's endorsement video, Turks also released to the market its newest offering --- Turks Rice Bowl, which is a complete meal. You can choose beef or chicken for your rice topping, and it is priced at P50. The Small Pita Donner on the other hand, is priced at P35.

Metro Manila continued to be the online shopping capital of the Philippines, with the most orders recorded on Shopee since the turn of the year. However, online shopping is quickly becoming the norm nationwide, as Mindanao and Visayas are seeing rapid growth in online shopping activity on Shopee.

Shopee is also becoming the preferred e-commerce platform for Filipinos to find their favorite products. This is apparent as the number of keyword searches in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 2.5 times compared to the same period last year. Filipinos search most often for terms related to Electronics, Health and Beauty, and Fashion; with Xiaomi, Maybelline, and Vans among the most-searched brands so far in 2019.

  1. Geography shapes online shopping habits in the Philippines

Shopee has found that online shopping preferences differ across regions in the Philippines. For users in Metro Manila, Health & Beauty and Electronics are the top categories with Xiaomi, Realme, and Honor as the leading smartphone brands. In fact, Realme sold over 1,000 units of its brand-new Realme 3 smartphone in two flash sales, with the first flash sale on March 25 selling out in under an hour.

For shoppers outside the capital, they prefer to buy Fashion products online as they benefit from a massive assortment of products and styles. In Visayas and Mindanao, Korean-styled apparel and footwear are the most purchased items.

Filipino online shoppers are also most active during lunch and before bed. For instance, Shopee users from Metro Manila tend to shop online from 12NN to 2 PM. Meanwhile, users in Mindanao and Visayas are most active from 8 to 10 PM.

  1. Men are shopping online more often, and more widely

Finally, men are shopping online more as e-commerce becomes the norm in the Philippines. Shopping among male users has more than doubled on Shopee in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same time last year.

Men are also more actively shopping for Fashion and Beauty products, aside from conventional categories such as Electronics and Gaming. Online shopping for skincare items is becoming especially common for men, with face masks ranking among the top 10 most popular products for male Shopee users in the first quarter of 2019.

PWDs gear up for Fun Run in May

Every Saturday, Al Kim Joshua Baptisma and his mom Lerma have an early lunch so they can take a three-hour trip to a Fun Clinic in Quezon City. The weekly clinics are in preparation for the PWD Fun Run organized by the Kaakibat na mga may Autismo sa Pilipinas (KASPI)-Mpc, a support group for parents of persons with autism and other neuro-developmental disabilities.

It’s a long commute from their residence in Las Pinas to the UP Oval in Diliman where the clinics are usually held, but there is nothing that will hold back Al Kim from going to a place where he can feel good about himself. Being on the autism spectrum, 22-year old Al Kim does not have many options for social interaction and community involvement. His parents encouraged him to go into sports as a way of releasing physical energy and being with peers. Al Kim had his first taste of organized running when he joined a 5km run at the SM Mall of Asia.


“Running is a perfect sport for people like Al Kim”, says his mother Lerma. “There are no difficult techniques or rules required, no expensive gear, and can be done by just about anyone who shows up”.




Al Kim has come to love running -- although it is not just the sport itself that enthuses him, but its being able to connect with others who accept him and do not mind that he sometimes asks the same questions over again. He enjoys talking to everyone – with his co-participants and, even more so, with the helpful student volunteers from UP Kinetics and the UP Special Education Council (UPSEC). He has taken on the role of welcoming and easing in newcomers into the group, and immediately asks about those who do not show up. Once he engages in a conversation, he will most likely remember most of the details.

Al Kim is one of the developmentally-challenged individuals who will put in their best efforts during the PWD Fun Run to show that, with support and encouragement, they can succeed in sports and other productive endeavors.

The PWD Fun Run: PWeDe Pala, Hetdo Kami, Join Kayo will be held on May 26, starting at 5:30 a.m. at the UP Academic Oval, Diliman. Participants can join the full 11K run, or catch up at 5:45 a.m. and 6 a.m. for the 6.6K and 2.2K runs, respectively. Registration sites are at the Garmin sites at the SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, and SM Megamall. Details are available at the PWD Fun Run page on Facebook.

Proceeds for the Fun Run will move KASPI toward its goal of putting up an activity center for individuals with neuro-developmental disabilities and helping them transition to a more independent and productive future.

LBC Hones Value of Above-Par Customer Service Through Aming Ligaya

A few months ago, LBC customer Ms. Roehlyn Del Rosario called the LBC hotline to follow up the delivery of her shipment containing clothes and cookies. After a few calls, Ms. Del Rosariospoke with LBC agent Jeca Poquita and TL Baylon Ausan and anxiously informed them that her consignee was scheduled to leave for abroad the next day and requested for the immediate delivery of her shipment. Agent Jeca and TL Baylon assured Ms. Del Rosario that her shipment would be delivered that same day and started to coordinate with other LBC employees to facilitate and monitor the delivery of Ms. Del Rosario’s shipment until it was successfully handed over to her consignee on that same day. On January 15, 2019, at the LBC Landmark Alabang Branch, Ms. Roehlyn Del Rosario was ableto personally meet Agent Jeca and TL Baylon via Aming Ligaya.

College students prepare to taste their full their potential with Teenspeak, Pepsi Philippines

What if students had a hand on how big companies did advertising campaigns or addressed business challenges for their target market? What difference would their new ideas and innovations bring to the table?
These were the possibilities Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) and the University Philippines Advertising Core (UP AdCore) sought to challenge in this years iteration of the annual Teenspeak competition Start with a Sip.

We've consistently partnered with educational institutions as part of our desire to drive inclusive growth for our stakeholders, said Monique Castro, PCPPI Corporate Affairs and Communications Senior Manager. We've done lots activities and initiatives for children like our annual Brigada Eskwela project and this time we've set our sights on building up the youth through this competition.
As UP AdCores flagship inter-university idea generation competition, Teenspeak aims to test the strategic skills of students in coming up with creative solutions for a challenge posted by the organization’s partner brand. A series of mentorships and boot camps with PepsiCo and PCPPI executives await participants who will vie for a prize of Php100,000 and an exclusive tour around a PCPPI bottling plant.
2018 saw a total of 100 teams from various colleges and universities in Metro Manila signing up, and on its tenth year the organization is expecting more competitors taking up the challenge. For its tenth year, UP AdCore joined forces with PCPPI to give participants the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experiences and learn from the best in the industry, said Bianca Aquino, Project lead for Teenspeak. The partnership coincides with PCPPI celebration of its 30-year legacy of serving Filipinos quality thirst quenchers.
Castro added that the collaboration will assist students in both honing their skills and deepening their principles by sharing their company values. While we are encouraging the participants to expand their thinking and put into practice the theories they've been imparted with, we will also be imparting to them who we are as a company and the values we have that propelled us through 30 years of successful business in the country."
The Teenspeak bootcamps and mentorships will run throughout March 16, 25 to 30 with the competition culminating on April 27 for the Finals.
Teenspeak and PCPPI are confident that students have what it takes to realize their ideas, said Aquino. All they need is to refresh their spirit and explore their abilities.
