During a turnover activity at Ummoul Khair Maahad, students, teachers, school principals, and local community leaders from Darul Khair Islamic Center, Maahad Talomo Al-Islamie, and Al Madrasah Al-Arabia Wal-Islamiyah received laptops, projectors, and white screens.
This donation is part of Pru Life UK’s Adopt-a-Madrasah program, launched in Davao in 2024 to support the company’s community investment efforts in Mindanao. The programme supports the educational needs of the madaris.
The donation was partly funded by the proceeds from Pru Life UK’s partnership with circular economy start-up Humble Sustainability that securely disposed the insurer’s unused IT equipment, including old gadgets donated by employees, by selling these through its network. Another partner, LiteHaus International, an NGO and digital equity advocacy, was tapped in sourcing the donated equipment that included repurposed computers.
“Pru Life UK has always been supportive of education and we recognise its role in realising our sustainability target of building resilient communities,” said Paul Mandal, Pru Life UK's Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer. “Through the Adopt-a-Madrasah programme, we aim to provide practical support to help madaris’ students and teachers access better learning opportunities.”
Since the programme launch, over 450 students and teachers have benefited from the provision of school materials, hygiene kits and a creative workshop conducted by Pru Life UK employees and agent volunteers. These efforts are conducted in partnership with local Muslim community leaders and government partners. Through Adopt-a-Madrasah, Pru Life UK reaffirms its mission to be a trusted partner and protector for generations, uplifting lives through education, empowerment, and sustainable development.
