Maxicare rolls out vaccination program for employees and families

Maxicare is now MaxiProtected! To protect their employees and their families against the COVID-19 virus, Maxicare, the country’s leading premier Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), rolled out the MaxiProtect COVID-19 Vaccination Program last July at the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan for almost 1,600 employees and their families.

The MaxiProtect COVID-19 Vaccination Program is considered a giant step towards protecting and keeping every Maxicare employee safe against the pandemic, a major milestone for the country’s leading HMO which aims to help the community get back on track. Maxicare also hopes that this vaccination drive will give employees a much needed sense of relief, hope, and optimism. With employees already vaccinated, they can continue to safely provide service to all Maxicare members, which is a key priority.

“Maxicare is classified as an essential service so it’s absolutely critical and important for us to ensure all our employees are protected. We have been waiting for this for quite some time so I’m very happy that we are finally able to offer vaccination to every single Maxicare employee,” Sean Argos, Maxicare President and CEO said.

“Together with our Wellness team, we had a series of webinars, and lectures conducted by distinguished doctors to create awareness about how important it is to get vaccinated. We believe that through these efforts, we have addressed vaccine hesitancy, and encouraged our employees to get vaccinated.” Dr. Karen Almonte, Assistant Vice President for Clinic Operations and Outpatient Services and one of the program’s head organizers, said. As a licensed medical professional, Dr. Almonte also reminded vaccinated employees to still practice safety protocols, like social distancing and wearing facemasks for further protection against COVID-19.

Aside from the COVID-19 vaccination program, Maxicare also carried out a slew of initiatives to provide care and support to its employees during the pandemic, such as the option to work from home, subsidies for internet connectivity, transportation, and hazard pay for those who need to work on site, especially frontliners. Maxicare also built their own quarantine facility in Pasay to provide a safe place for their employees in case of infection.

“I feel happy and protected now that I’m vaccinated. Especially when I go outside, I feel safer and more confident to go to work now that I got my vaccine.’ Roxanne De Luna, a Maxicare Affiliate said.

As Maxicare frontliners, employees Wingie Danao and Grace Vidallon agree that getting vaccinated is extremely crucial to their work. “It gives us protection and ensures our safety as we do our duties. Knowing we have been vaccinated also encourages our patients to get vaccinated as well,” they added.

Immediate family members of Maxicare employees were also included in the company’s vaccination drive. “This vaccination program is really a big help not just for my daughter who is a Maxicare employee but also to our family as a whole. Now that we’re vaccinated, our family can now ease our worries,” Rebecca Lim, a mother of a Maxicare employee said.

Now that Maxicare employees are vaccinated and protected, they are now better equipped to extend this protection to their members. In the coming weeks, Maxicare is eyeing to roll out over 150 thousand more doses of the vaccine until the end of the year and offer the program not just to employees but also to its members.
