stART Hope is the first ever benefit art exhibit curated purely by homeschooled students in the Philippines. About fifty homeschooling students grades 4 to 8 have united their efforts in the pursuit for hope, peace and change for the sake of the next generation.

THE HOMESCHOOLERS

Homeschool @ Alabang and Homeschool @ Valle Verde are the expanded communities of the original Homeschool @ The Fort, an organized community of homeschoolers that provide fun and engaging classes for homeschoolers. It is the place to go to if you want to join a playgroup, co-op, or a homeschooling support group.

For three years now, it held its Communication and Collaboration class (formerly called Projects and Presentations) with a thrust of supplementing the learning experiences of homeschooling independent learners by giving them an avenue to work in different group/class settings.

The for-a-cause event is one of the collaborated projects of the class’ SY 2016-2017 students through the direction and inspiration of their teachers, which are both co-owners of education-travel blog, School in a Backpack.

THE CAUSE

The homeschoolers, in coordination with Wishes of Aid and Limbs for Kids (WALK), Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization, and one of the projects of Rotary Club of Makati Forbes Park District 3830, aims to spark hope for our exhibit's main beneficiary, Nice So, along with the children of WALK Inc.

THE ARTISTS

Nice So, a lupus patient who discovered her innate artistic talent while in the hospital just about the same time she was informed about her medical condition, has been painting and selling her artworks since she was in grade school to pay for her medical necessities as well as help other kids with lupus and other incurable diseases.

Contemporary artist Niño Hernandez, and professional calligraphist Ginger de Guia, both art teachers in the homeschool community, supported the student project and its cause by collaborating their artworks for the exhibit.

Homeschooled until her senior high year, and now incoming college student pursuing arts management, Waby Liberia will be officially launched into the arts industry through the exhibit.

THE EXHIBIT

stART Hope will greet the New Year with youthful expectations at the exhibit launch on January 7, 2017 at the Kanto Artist-Run Space, 2nd Floor, Makati Cinema Square, Makati. Program starts at 3PM. Featured artists, seasoned performers, homeschool talents and more will be part of the exhibition launch program.

The exhibit will run all the way until January 26, 2017, will be held. It is open to accepting artworks with the theme “hope” on a 16x16 mounted canvass from all homeschooling students in the Philippines.

The 2016 League of Legends (LoL) World Championships recently concluded with a bang at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The statuesque beauty, known in the industry for her wonderful production of House, Future House and Progressive / Big Room with a touch of Trap and Future Bass, loves to define her sound as something ‘from the heart’ which people of all ages can enjoy listening to. Through her music and her vast experience performing across Europe and US, DJ Sheryl Lynn frequently headlines various international events.

She also performed as a singer in high school, in the church choir and in the Top 20 talent during the 2006 Miss World Finals. Her greatest influencers are her parents: her Filipino mom was in a dance group while her Dutch dad was in a band and is a huge collector of vinyls and CDs. Her zeal for house music comes with being Dutch. Growing up, she was surrounded with house music all her life, it being one of the main genres in the music industry in the Netherlands, a country that is also the no. 1 DJ country in the world.

Beauty Queen, Model and Host

Sheryl Lynn is also known to the world as Ms. Netherlands 2006 who represented her country at the Miss World Finals in Poland. In 2013, she was also crowned as the international winner of Mrs. Globe in the United States.

She also has a wide range of hosting experience, being a regular host for Ross Video on TV-set in Amsterdam and Las Vegas. She has also hosted at the international Mrs. Globe finals in China and several benefit events, tradeshows, congresses and university conferences across Europe and North America.

Sheryl Lynn is also the face of Lifestyle Canada for both billboard and TV Commercial, endorser of Le Lait Quebec, A. Vogel in the Netherlands, and several web shop clothing. She was also featured in music videos and an active print add and runway model.

Philanthropist

But this beauty queen is not only known to be beautiful on the outside. She is just as gorgeous on the inside, blessed with a big heart and the willingness to make a difference.

With her love for the Filipino people and culture and her goal to make significant ways to help eliminate poverty in the Philippines, the beauty queen/DJ founded the Sheryl Lynn Foundation in 2007 which has continuously helped hundreds of children get proper education and brought relief aid to thousands of families after super typhoon Yolanda.

When Sheryl Lynn was crowned international Ms. Globe in 2013, she was also made an ambassador for the Women in Need (WIN) Foundation. This broadened her scope to further help those in need. On April 11, 2014, she was awarded the ECHO Award 2014 for combining the world of entertainment, academics and philanthropy to use the outcome for a greater cause, which granted her a scholarship at UCLA in California.
