The Philippines Is Ready to Play: How Pickleball Is Putting Filipino Athletes on the World Stage

From neighborhood courts to international competition, Philippine pickleball is opening new opportunities for Filipino athletes to show what they can do.

From August 30 to September 6, the Philippine national pickleball team represented the country at the 2026 Pickleball World Cup in Da Nang, Vietnam, with B’lue as the official hydration partner of the Philippine Pickleball Federation’s (PPF) national team. The tournament was an opportunity to showcase the grit, talent, and competitive spirit of Filipino athletes on the world stage.

“Filipino athletes have a combination of heart, resilience, and competitiveness that really comes out when we are tested. We may not always have the same resources, training infrastructure, or years of exposure, but Filipinos know how to fight. We adapt and we don’t give up easily,” said Shery Anne Cu, president of the PPF.

Making Their Mark on the Global Stage

The Philippine team brought home six medals: four silvers and two bronzes across singles and doubles events. The podium finishes spanned men’s singles, women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, reflecting contributions from Filipino players across different age and skill categories.

In the team competition, the Philippines finished 11th among 64 countries in the Open category after sweeping its round-robin group and reaching the round of 16. The Masters team placed 12th among 20 countries, while Filipino players also competed in the Seniors, Juniors, and Kids categories.

Together, the medal finishes and team performances offer a picture of Philippine pickleball’s potential across generations. For younger players, the tournament also provided international exposure to build on as they continue to train and develop their game.

The Power to Keep Going

B’lue, the national team’s official hydration partner, joined the PPF in supporting the athletes throughout their World Cup campaign. For the flavored vitamin beverage brand, supporting that journey means helping athletes stay refreshed and boosted as they keep going toward their next challenge. With more opportunities to train and compete, Filipino pickleball players can build on their World Cup experience and bring their grit, talent, and competitive spirit to the world stage once again.

The final rally closes a tournament, but the work of becoming a better player continues. For the Philippine delegation, competing in Da Nang offered a clearer view of what it takes to play at an international level and where there is still room to grow.

“The Filipino edge is that our athletes don’t decide what they’re capable of based on who is standing across the net. They compete, they adapt, and they fight until the last point,” said Cu.

Preparing for the Next Challenge

With medal finishes to build on and younger players gaining international experience, the next chapter for Philippine pickleball is about turning that exposure into continued development. The delegation’s journey also gives aspiring players a glimpse of where their own commitment to the sport could lead.

“That’s why I believe other countries should watch the Philippines. We have athleticism, speed, creativity, and that natural Filipino competitiveness, but we also have a generation of young players coming up who are starting to get international exposure much earlier,” said Cu. “If we continue investing in these athletes and giving them the right opportunities, I believe the Philippines can become a serious force in international pickleball.”

The team’s determination to keep improving is a reminder that progress begins with showing up, on and off the court. It’s a spirit echoed in B’lue’s invitation to Keep Going, wherever your next goal takes you.
