Filipinos looking to seize bright opportunities through responsible investing can now avail the Peso Global Sustainability Growth Fund, the first sustainability-driven VUL equity fund from Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc.
The Fund aims to generate long-term capital appreciation by investing in global funds that are focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. It aims to deliver this long-term value through strong fundamentals and sustainable investing principles.
“The Fund is perfect for those who want to diversify their assets while looking to contribute to global sustainable progress,” Sun Life Philippines CEO and Country Head Benedict Sison said.
The Peso Global Sustainability Growth Fund can be availed as a fund option with the following Sun Life PHP-denominated investment-linked insurance products: Sun FlexiLink, Sun FlexiLink1, Sun MaxiLink 100, Sun MaxiLink Prime, Sun MaxiLink Bright, and Sun MaxiLink One.
“This means that aside from being able to make a positive impact in the world, clients can also address their wealth accumulation and protection needs,” Sison added.
The launch of the Fund is just one of the many ways Sun Life is contributing to build a brighter and more sustainable future for Filipinos.
During Sun Life’s Financial Independence Month campaign launch, it bared its sustainability agenda that aligns with the United Nations Sustainability Goals. Its focus areas include Increasing Financial Security, Fostering Healthier Lives, Advancing Sustainable Investing, Operating as a Trusted and Responsible Business, and Uplifting Communities.
“Sun Life has always been sustainability driven as it is essential to our long-term success. That’s why we strive to embed it in all aspects of the business, including our strategy, operations, and culture. But more than this, being ESG-focused is simply the right thing to do to ensure that the next generations have a bright and sustainable future,” Sison said.

Lanson Place Mall of Asia Facade
A new era of hospitality is coming to the bustling area of Pasay City in the form of Lanson Place Mall of Asia, Manila. As part of the SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) collaboration, Lanson Place Personal Hotels & Residences (Lanson Place) is finally bringing its expertise in personal hotels and serviced residences to Metro Manila.
With an expanding array of properties throughout Asia, such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore, Lanson Place Mall of Asia is set to continue the operator’s commitment to providing its guests with a distinct haven away from home. Set to open its doors to the public in the third quarter of 2023, Lanson Place’s latest addition will rise within the Mall of Asia Complex, featuring over 247 hotel rooms and 142 serviced residences ready for its guests.
“We are thrilled to be unveiling Lanson Place Mall of Asia. Our vision for this project was to provide our guests with sophisticated and dynamic spaces that they can call home. We look forward to continuing to grow our Asia footprint and to add this exciting development to the Philippines community.” said Michael Hobson, the CEO of Lanson Place.
Lanson Place: Redefining Premium Properties Through Artistry and Authentic Hospitality
From the moment guests step into the property, they’ll be enveloped in an ambience of refined comfort. Lanson Place Mall of Asia, with its brand promise of “Make Yourself At Home” embraces the philosophy that surpassing expectations is not merely a slogan but a fundamental lifestyle.
The property’s architecture houses an environment celebrating art and design while providing a comfortable experience for guests. The interiors have been carefully crafted to ensure a seamless flow, where every element contributes to the overall narrative of the space.
The property prides itself on having a perfect mix of contemporary and traditional architecture and its interior design is a testament to the beautiful balance between modern flair and the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. From sleek lines and minimalist accents to intricate sculptures and imagery, the interiors serve as remarkable showcase of the country’s diverse and captivating artistic traditions.
The outstanding art pieces in the property can be attributed to the art program curated by Nestor Jardin, the former President and Artistic Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, known for sourcing and curating art pieces for renowned hotels in the Philippines.
“The vision for the Lanson Place Mall of Asia’s art program is to complement this contemporary architecture and interior design, thereby creating spaces that exude contemporary aesthetics and appeal to the target market. The artworks shall use material references, cultural symbols, and motifs to evoke a strong sense of place and community spirit,” said Jardin.
Lanson Place Mall of Asia is set to have its soft opening sometime in the third quarter of 2023. “Serving Filipinos for 128 years now, Sun Life has always prioritized sustainability – not just in its Philippine office but also in the global organization where it belongs to,” Sun Life Philippines CEO & Country Head Benedict Sison said. “As a life insurance and asset management business, we are naturally aligned with the sustainability goals, apart from pursuing philanthropic and environmental projects.”
Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Sun Life’s commitment is expressed through initiatives that support the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals and are anchored on focus areas where it can have the most positive social and environmental impact, including Increasing Financial Security, Fostering Healthier Lives, Advancing Sustainable Investing, Operating as a Trusted and Responsible Business, and Uplifting Communities.
Over the years, Sun Life has been staunchly advocating these causes. A peek at the company’s sustainability journey thus far is available at www.sunlife.co/SustainabilityPH.
“Sun Life commits to a sustainable future by creating a positive impact on our stakeholders in the way we operate,” Sison said. “We aspire for our people and our solutions to make a difference in Filipino lives, empowering them to achieve financial security and healthier living for generations to come.”
Marking Financial Independence Month
In line with its goal to increase financial security among Filipinos, Sun Life is once again marking June as Financial Independence Month, with the goal of empowering Filipinos through relevant and engaging content that express the message, “Freedom starts with a choice. Kaya mo ‘yan!”
“We introduced Financial Independence Month in 2015, and we aim to keep the conversation going,” Sun Life Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer Carla Gonzalez-Chong said. “Our rallying cry for this year shows our confidence in the Filipinos’ power to bring their goals to life. And as they make the choice to pursue financial freedom, Sun Life will be here to walk the journey with them, with the vision of helping Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security.”
Serving as inspiration are four short films created by Sun Life’s in-house team of young creatives. These feature heartwarming stories of Filipinos who made the choice to own their future and bring their goals to life.
“Sinag” by Mei Solis tells the story of a daughter who is struggling to connect with her Overseas Filipino mom, until they discover a shared goal of finally being together for good.
“Kulay” by Casey Borja explores the world of a child on the autism spectrum who brings hope to his business-owner father amid a crucial time.
“Ngayon at Bukas” by JC Manzano depicts the struggle of a son struggling to find his path and finds it in an unlikely place: his father’s humble barber shop.
“Para Sa Akin” by Bea Aguilera is a funny take on how a storm of bad luck can ironically lead one to finding a bright partner.
All these will be available on www.sunlife.co/KayaMoYan beginning June 19. Complementing the films are free learning modules designed for those who wish to build their financial portfolio. The message will be further amplified via content on Sun Life’s social platforms, @SunLifePH on Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok.
“Sun Life is always eager to do its part as the Filipinos’ partner in achieving a more sustainable future,” Sison said. “We honor the progress that we have made together and look forward to more milestones along the way, so that more may have the freedom to live brighter.”
