Jr. NBA PH press release
MANILA – The NBA (National Basketball Association) announced today that Orlando Magic's Elfrid Payton and Sue Wicks, former WNBA player will travel to Manila to coach in the Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 National Training Camp and help players from around the country vying to be named 2017 Jr. NBA All-Stars. The National Training Camp will be held at the Don Bosco Technical Institute May 12-13 and at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on May 14.
Payton and Wicks will also serve as coaches at the annual Jr. NBA Alumni All-Star Game featuring past Jr. NBA standouts from across the country.  Participation in this year’s program increased by 50 percent from 2016, reaching more than 30,000 players and coaches in cities including Bacolod, Batangas, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Lucena, Metro Manila, and Puerto Princesa.
“I’m excited to visit the Philippines for the first time and experience the country’s enthusiastic basketball culture,” said Payton. “These young players have worked hard to be a part of this camp, and I can’t wait to get on the court with them.”
“Having visited the Philippines before, I’ve seen firsthand the passion that young boys and girls here have for the game,” said Wicks. “I’m looking forward to the trip and to working with the Jr. NBA participants to help take their game to the next level.”
Payton, who was drafted tenth overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2015. He averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game with the Magic this season.
Wicks, a former WNBA All-Star, was selected sixth overall in the 1997 WNBA Draft. She spent six seasons in the WNBA with the New York Liberty and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
The Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska culminates with the National Training Camp, which features the top 37 boys and top 37 girls participating in advanced fundamental skills training and exhibition games. The finalists were selected from Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camps in Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Manila, and Quezon, and from the Alaska Power Camp in Manila.
At the end of the National Training Camp, eight boys and eight girls will be selected as Jr. NBA All-Stars and will embark on an overseas NBA experience trip with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia later this year.  The program will also feature the selection of the 2017 Jr. NBA Coaches of the Year who will join the Jr. NBA All-Stars on the overseas trip.
The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills and the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches, and parents.  During the 2016-17 season, the NBA will reach more than 18 million youth in 53 countries through its youth participation initiatives.

The craze on Food Parks is now widespread and Marikina is the place that offers an array of food stalls. #Foodtrip Marikina is the newest  food park that caters delicious food at an affordable price.

#Foodtrip is well-lit and ventilated unlike other food parks that can be a bit congested. When we first arrived at the location the first thing that I noticed was the huge tree in the middle with the name of the food park. For the generation X and Xenialls, it will remind you of Batibot.  The design of the whole park is like a maze with its cobbled stone steps plus it has picturesque wall art. The tables are wide space apart so it is easier to move plus it has  umbrellas for those unexpected rainy nights.

Sonyarita

The name itself is derived from Mrs. Sonya who is the wife of the owner of the stall. This is the first branch of Sonyarita and I do hope they open a branch at Quezon City soon. The owner made sure that every ingredient used is high quality.

Spam Fries

This is one of my favorites and would definitely go back for this. Spam and fries has always been my comfort food so combining them together makes one tasty treat. This can also be enjoyed by kids as it is not too salty and generous amount of spam was used.

Pan grilled beef

The beef is tender and easy to cut and drizzled with the flavorful gravy. The rice is in a small casserole, the serving is good for two if you and your companion are not that hungry.

Boodle Platter
The Boodle platter consists of Mozarella pops, Cheddar cheese fries and Spam sticks. Cheddar cheese fries combined with the smoky flavor of the sausage becomes one delightful surprise. The Mozarella pops can be a bit overwhelming on its own that is why I combine it with Canadian bacon.

Canadian bacon
The bacon is crisp and not that salty which adds a flavorful punch to the Mozarella pops.

Drinks
Sonyarita offers a selection of refreshing drinks. The first one that I tried is the Cucumber Lemonade, this is ideal for hot summer days. The second drink is the gummy bear that quenched my thirst and this would be hit among kids and millennials as it was not that sweet.

Dessertified

This stall offers Instagram worthy milkshakes. The selection ranges from different chocolates, Oreos, and  typical fruit flavors.

Strawberry Milkshake

This dessert did not disappoint on aesthetics . It was eye popping and enticing at the same time. It tasted like the candy Monami, not too sweet and the milk does not overpower the strawberry flavor.

Cookie Monster
A generous amount of Oreos is used on this drink. It is sweet and  satisfying and what I love about it is you can still taste the cookies that is used. This is a tad bit too minimalist on the aesthetics among the three drinks.

Chocolate Overload
The appearance is so enticing with generous amounts of three bite-sized chocolates presented on top. The milkshake itself is not too sweet and complemented the elements that is on top to balance it out.

El Viraz Urban Grill

Derived from the owner's name: Ms. Elvira. The stall itself looks like a set of an old western film set .  They do have a unique way to serve their barbeque and that is hanging on a steel stick.

The stall offers a wide range of grilled food for your cravings.

Quespada stick of pork
The meat was tender and grilled to perfection, it was a melt in your mouth goodness especially when dipped on their sauce.

Overall experience

If you are looking for a relaxing place where there's trees and greens and not crowded, then #Foodtrip Marikina is the right spot.  It is not your usual-looking foodtruck, but, being unique does not mean it's not good. It's rather spacious, comfortable, and being around nature makes the dining experience better because of the fresh air. Average priced, wide array of fantastic food will make you want to come back.

Heading to the beach may be the most exciting part of summer. It is almost always part of the itinerary this season for most people. Others prefer to give in to their adrenaline rush climbing that mountain slope or just about anything that gets you that summer tan to fit in the crowd.

Did you know that spending extended hours under the extreme summer sun can pose serious danger to your hair and scalp? The same UV rays that brings damage to your skin without proper protection can equally hurt your hair and scalp.

Below are some of the problems your hair can encounter during the season:

  • Split-Ends - UV rays and extreme high temperature can take their toll on your strands. The heat drains the moisture of your hair out causing breakage.
  • Double Trouble – Rebonded or permed hair needs extra attention as high temperature well as humidity disrupts the cuticle breaking some of the chemical bonds that keep the hair straight or curls and roughing up the cuticle, taking away shine and smoothness.
  • Scalp problem – Scalp may also get sun-burned if you don’t use cover-ups for your head.
  • Grease problem – Summer sun and humidity can bring extra grease on your hair, leaving it vulnerable to damage.
  • Chlorine Stress – Swimming in the pool subjects your hair to chlorine. The outer layers of the cuticle of the hair opens up when you swim and chlorinated water seeps into the center of the hair thus making your hair more brittle.

  •  Excessive Salt Water – Salt water can cause the same damage as chlorinated ones. Salt water  dries on the hair it creates a high-saline solution which can build up and cause hair to feel dry, weighed down and hard to manage.

All these problem can be addressed by keeping your hair clean and showered after each activities. Take vitamin supplements that benefits you hair such as Vitamin C and Biotin. Getting your hair pampered will also give respite to the sun and chemical abuse.

Kids Fair 2017: “Bright! Right From The Start” kicks off last April 21 - 23, 2017 (Friday to Sunday) from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Megatrade Hall 1, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

The first ever KIDS FAIR 2017: “Bright! Right From The Start” is an event that sets an environment of learning, discovery, and fun for kids with various activities that could help them improve their creative and thinking skills. From the moment they set foot in the fair, the fun begins – filled with delightful servings of games that stimulate creativity, sportsmanship, and problem-solving skills.

Kids played and won prizes at our game booths; listened to book reading sessions or discovered new books to take home; tried an art craft session and bring out the artist within them; join several exciting workshops that enhances skills and imagination; and explored a bounty of booths from toys, books and sports – to fashion and candies. But wait – this chock-full of fun fair is not just for kids.

Moms, dads, grandparents, and guardians were definitely in the mix – it’s a family affair. KIDS FAIR actively involves the whole family by helping them learn to provide the proper learning path so kids get the necessary motivation and guidance, a solid foundation that propels them to a better future with careers that give them purpose and a lifestyle of holistic well-being.

Also, celebrities and influencers like “Baeby Baste” of GMA 7; Mommy Vlogger, Ms. Isha Borromeo and other special guests joined this fun-filled event.

A healthy mind needs a healthy body, so the Doctors were in at the KID’S FAIR too. Parents and their kids tried the “Left-brain, Right-brain Dominance Assessment” and find out if their child is either analytical or creative – or maybe even both – an expert in child psychology was there to guide them.

KID’S FAIR aims to promote proper childhood development that fosters joy and harmony at home and in school. We believe that happy, optimistic children are the product of happy, optimistic homes.

ARTISTE SPACE produced and organized KID’S FAIR 2017: “Bright!
